Welcome.  The best source of info is to look in your owner's manual, which will list a range of towing weights based on options on your truck (4 wheel drive vs. 2 wheel drive, for example).  You can look up a general number on the internet, if necessary.

I found this towing calculator on another post within the forum. I would like to give credit to whoever posted it originally, but I can't find it again. Fortunately I saved it as an important tool. It's a bit complicated, but well worth the trouble.
You'll have to copy and paste the link because I still haven't figured out how to post a live link in this forum, that works. Good Luck!

What Tech said.
In my (Chevy) pickup manual there are different tow weights for every different:
engine
transmission
bed size
cab size
rear axle ratio
2wd vs. 4wd

Use the manual. The numbers should be based on the complete drivetrain.

Welcome to the group.  We too are fairly new here.  As you can see there are lots of helpful people here and plenty of great information.

If you use the manual don't forget a safety margin. Just because it says you can tow it, doesn't mean that you should.

and remember, too, your manual will be generic for all half tons. Check your door jam for a sticker showing maximum towing weight, that will be vehicle specific, as everyone else pointed out.

That button at the top of the remote?
That's the power button..press it.
Turn it all off.
Go outside!
