Topic: Rpod 178 slideout

Subject: Rpod 178 slideout

I have a question about the slide-out. When retracting our slideout the top of the unit hits before the bottom. The motor strains but still pulls the bottom in completely until it seals and the ratchet sounds. Do all slide-outs operate like ours or should the seal hit top and bottom at the same time? Is there any adjustment if needed? Any info would be appreciated.

We have a 179 with the slideout , ours seems to come back as one complete unit with the bottom and top hitting at the same time.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know if there is an adjustment if I wanted to try to straighten the tracking?

Answered on the other forum but this is normal and the way our slides work, they are one track so they are going to go back and fourth and then click click click at the end once both top and bottom are fully retracted or extended.

Unless you have a 179, they have a different slideout completely.

Confirmed, during my walk through the RV tech retracted the slide and I observed outside and in fact, the top does hit first, then it draws the bottom in. Markie, thanks for posting this...good to know!

Our 182 does that also. So, the wratcheting sound at the end is ok? I thought it sounded bad, so we just let it come in and stop it. Are we supposed to hear that noise as notification the bottom is being brought in?

Yes, that is my understanding. The ratcheting indicates the slide is fully out or fully in and you don't want it anywhere in between.

The 179 has a completely different slide mechanism with 4 motors. Swintec I think. All others have one motor.
