Hello all.

Just got the 176-T model with the tent. It was a pain finding one in this part of the country but Couch's had the right price, even with delivery. We are looking forward to adventuring around the Southwest.

yes the tent is closed at the moment

Don't mean to butt in on someone else's thread, but the "T" (for tent) models have a bunkend made of tent material that folds down on the back end of the Pod, behind a dinette table, giving you more sleeping space and a more open-looking interior.  They are actually considered hybrid campers, as opposed to travel trailers.

I looked at their website, I didnt see any 176-T models, just the 176 which isnt the tent. That would be great if someone on the west coast stocked them

Agreed, no "T's" if a single dealer had 5 at one time that would just about corner the supply Wink

Hi. We are about to buy a 176T. Some sales people have told us that when closed the tent material covers the dinette table making it unusable unless tent opened. Also that it was poorly designed and would leak in rain. I think he was just pushing the re 78 that he had in stock. What do you think? Any problems so far?

Cool, nice set-up...looks good! When do we get to see a pick with the tent deployed?

Bearclaw:

The dinette is not at all useless while the tent is stowed. Space is degraded a bit but we pull over and use the dinette all the time for quick lunches. When the weather is good we put the table outside and deploy the bed and the space inside is awesome. I've have even taken a quick cat nap on the lowered table on the dinette while the tent is stowed, slept great.

I will post a few picks from this last few weekends.

Thanks for the post. I figured as much. We have been looking at so many different models hard to remember which is which. Since we're moving up from a tent whatever we get will seem like luxury. Just today someone was telling me that " you have to have tandem axels. That rpod will bounce all over" jeeze.

Well, I just towed my 178 for 1,200 miles over two days and it was solid at a rock, no issues whatsoever.
I hit some very rough road on this trip and I was also concerned about bouncing and how the POD would take it. The torsion axle really does a very good job of taking the bumps.
It's all about having a good setup. Enjoy, it's fun shopping and vetting and then deciding, take your time. Don't rush it...you'll make the right decision for you...when everything feels right. Smile

The pod is the most comfortable trailer I've ever towed.  Over 15,000 miles on ours and no bouncing, ever.

Nice Setup...I don't see many with this color scheme and graphic set...really nice. You've got the slide, outside shower, deploy-able tent, man...it's like a transformer!

Thanks alot!!
We looked at a lot of campers before buying the Rpod, spent almost a year looking. If I had a bit bigger of an engine in my nissan I would have gone with the Livin lite by Camp lite but the Rpod is not at all letting us down, we love it!!!

That's a really cool setup!  I especially like how the rear raises up to form a roof over the tented area.

And on another thought mentioned in this thread:

Like Podster, I also recently drove a ways to pick up my 171 f(from Couch's in my case) - around 1200+ miles - and it towed steady as a rock.  In fact, I thought it pulled easier than my pipe-rack 12' utility trailer.  And no bouncing at all.  In contrast, I could see my tire side walls flexing a bit, but the tires stayed on the pavement.

Glad you're enjoying the 'T' ..

Bearclaw,

Mind you I am new to RV's in general but here are some things I found out during our research before we bought.

There are two Forest river factories in the USA. one in Indiana and one in oregon, of course they don't distribute the 176-T from the OR one. which is dumb imho.

There was a 2014 new 176T at the RV spa in Upland CA which we were gonna buy but couch's (believe it or not) came in almost $1000 less and that was WITH delivery and all the goodies. (we live in Las Vegas) so, I would check it out see if you can get them down in price.

Of course you should probably check Couch's it's the end of the year and i'm sure they are tryin to get rid of new 2014's

I did find a dealer in Sacramento that stated on their website they would stock 5 176-T until they sold out, and then re-stock another 5. I can't remember the name but It would not be hard to find.

good luck

That is the BEST looking T model Rpod I have ever seen.  Color changes on the tent really match up great with the rest of the Pod so much better than they ever have before.

Great looking Pod!!!

Interesting, the look of the tenting reminds me of the old small campers from the 50's.

Great look isn't it?  I hadn't known the tent would look that good.  I can see pictures of that unit right there being an huge encouragement to possible new T owners.
