I recently bought a 2015 R-pod 171. We drove it to Alaska this summer. One serious problem we discovered when we drove 150 miles on a dirt road ... the R-pod filled up with dust. Windows and roof vents were all closed. The only source I can think of is that wire and pipe service entrances from under the R-pod were not sealed up with chalking. Has anyone else experienced this. I assume I will have to do some exploring and seal up all these entry points. I would think this is a factory issue. Please comment. ------------- Ricardo de Hall |

Welcome. 150 miles on a dirt road is a lot, our Jeep gets dusty after 5 or 10 miles but have never pulled the trailer that far. A ways back I think that someone else said that they had the same issue when traveling a distance on gravel. The POD's are fairly tight but not air tight. Well I think your major draw of air out of the r-pod would be the roof vent. Its by no means sealed when closed and fast-moving air running over it as your head down the road would likely lift it a bit and create a fair amount of suction. For incoming dust, the fridge vents would likely be a culprit. And, perhaps around the bottom corners of the door (the seal is designed with gaps to let water out). ------------- Craig :: 2009 RP171 towed by a 2017 F150 |

We hit a lot of off road miles with our 151. Sprayed expanding foam around every water line, propane line sewage drain etc that goes from inside to outside. Also check the gaps under and about the fridge from the outside. Ours had about a 1/4 gap above and also below that allowed lots of air to enter the pod. ------------- enjoy the fresh air |
