Hi.
After visiting the dealer this morning, I'm now deciding between the 178 and the 179.

I think I'd prefer the 179, but the 90degree door really concerns me... Blocking the view from the trailer, awkward movement in and out when the the dome is up and more importantly being caught in wind as per discussions by others

Has anyone removed the outside bottom door stop ( is it possible) and come up with a way to secure the door open  at 60 degrees against the fender.?  Would this affect the warranty?

Any other ideas/ experience?

If I can't do something withe the door I'll get the 178 and still be very happy.

Who knew giving up the 151 would be so hard?.

Newly made 179's have a friction hinge and they no longer will swing open or shut in the wind.  They don't even put the door latch pieces on them anymore to hold them open because of it.

Ditto, seems like they addressed those issues on the 2015

Thanks so much. This forum and the people on it are really friendly and helpful.

So showing my limited knowledge with things mechanical.    I did notice that the door was tight to open and close- that's what the friction hinge does?  Can the hinge be adjusted to open to the fender ~60 deg?

Yes that is what the friction hinges do now.  Do they not go past the 90 degree mark when you try to open it?
