I worry about this being another very cold winter.  This summer felt like it never quite arrived.

I vote for cold!   I got so far ahead on my firewood for the wood stove it is rotting....rather see it go up in smokeTongue

Peak leaf season around here is at least 2 months away...

I hope it is fairly cold.........cant wait to get Ice Fishing!!!! Usually have a fishing shanty on Lake Willoughby in Westmore and a portable shanty on Island Pond in Brighton.
We will start in December when the ice is 5-7 inches thick and it will end in Mid March at 2-5-3 foot thick. We will chase flags on our snow machine.

In south Florida it's just Hot and Humid, no other way to describe it. No sign of a cold front coming down at least for another two months. Then it may get into the 80's for a couple of days and a little less humidity.

Just got back from a short trip to Montreal, the foliage is starting to progress in some areas. So we should start to see "leaf peepers" soon!

It's been a cool and wet summer here in the Rockies.  We took the Pod to Taylor Park last weekend and saw a fresh dusting of snow (which I'm sure was gone by Noon) on the backside of some of the Fourteeners.  We also noticed that some of the Aspens are beginning to turn.

No. no-no NO!
Northeast Alberta in the winter is NOT a fun camping destination.
Its not a fun anything winter destination, really. Sure, some may say its good for snowmobiling or tobogganing; but to you, I say: HUMBUG.... I prefer to watch all you down-hill skiers from the warmth of a large fire in the chalet with a good book and good scotch..
I think this winter's read is going to be the 'pod manual..

Yep- true enough!
A couple years back my step-son's hockey team had an ice-fishing party as a mid-season outing. (no booze). We had trucks, ATVs, and snowmobiles out on the ice and a roaring fire going all day out on the ice. The ice was so thick, guys needed extensions for their augers!
Come to think of it- it truly is the hockey moms who are the crazy ones! It's not always coffee they have in their travel cups for those early Sunday morning games!!!

Anyhoo- still a winter sport in the cold.

Eric,
Yes, we have the 3.6 pentastar  290 horse engine. It tows great we get 13.5 mpg in the Vermont hills and 15.5-16.5 when we get down below the mass border. We towed over into New Hampshire last trip, had no problems on the hills or mountains. Love it

Thanks, Leo,
In two weeks we will be taking our 171 out for its 'maiden voyage', staying close to home to see the changing leaves. The Wrangler doesn't really like towing; it has the 3.8 with 202 hp.
It'll have to get used to it, though, until next year. My wife just told me she wants to get a pickup! God love her!!!

Eric

We used to tow our 2010 171 with our 2005 Dodge Caravan with the old 3.3 with 181 horse power. We took that to Florida twice all the way down to the keys. Got 10-11 in Vermont and 12-13 below Vermont  had to take a run on most hills.
The larger engine made quite a bit of difference.

Good Luck

Leo

Dang!  Must be nice to have weather cool enough for a fire.  Right now (~11:00 am), it's 81 here .. and we're grateful for the cooler weather (compared to what we've been having)!  Fireplace weather is still a couple of months off.  The good news:  We still have a lot of good camping weather left. Big smile

Same humidity we get in the mid-Atlantic, and I would still prefer a nice summer scorcher vs. a mid-winter cold snap.  Embarrassed
