To those of you traveling, stay off 127 in AL, TN, KY and OH. This is the week of the 600+ mile yardsale that is a nightmare for our area in TN.

We saw a blip on the 600 mile yard sale a week or so ago on the travel channel, thought it was something we would like to check out some year. How bad is it?

Wow- 600 miles? Thanks for the heads up- we'll be crossing 127 on I-40, hopefully it won't be backed up. We have our first 5 days of reservations west of Fort Collins CO for our big trip. We have had to work around staying out of the Red Feather Lakes area, which has some nice USFS campgrounds. The Rainbow Family has been gathering in that area and there have already been 3 stabbings during their "non violent/peace loving" gathering. They are a loosely knit community of thousands of transients that seem to bring problems, shoplifting, illegal camping, drug use, etc. wherever they gather, according to law enforcement sources.

For us who live here, we totally avoid the areas. City imposed fees after we came here 10 years ago and that took many out of the business area. It is bumper to bumper traffic on 127 South, have not been North 127 this year, people running back and forth across highway. Leo B. if you are serious about giving it a whirl, I would put my pod in one of the local campgrounds and brave it with vehicle only. Campgrounds Cumberland Mountain State Park between 127 and Pidgeon Ridge Road, Spring Lake RV Resort off Peavine Road and there are two others, preference being the ones I mentioned. Parking is limited, so plan on walking a lot. We are either hot or wet. It started Sunday with very humid and high 80's. Has been hot all week and started raining last night.
