Anyone know how many RPods have been manufactured and sold? At one time I heard numbers in the 10K-20K range, but I don't remember anymore. We have 2600 members, the RPod Nation has 1000, most of which are probably duplicates. I'm just trying to estimate the rate of participation in the forum vs number of Pod owners out there.

That is a good question, I have wondered that myself. And I am sure this form has contributed to many that were sold. I don't know if true or not but at a RV show the r-pods were advertised as the most popular selling RV. I hope someone has a answer I am curious to know. Maybe someone from Forest River could post the number, I heard they visit the forum.

If a new owner of a 2015 Rpod from both the Oregeon plant and the Indiana plant could provide their serial numbers I could give an estimate of number of Pods produced.

Our 2010 171 was manufactured in February 2010. Last numbers of the VIN are 5911.  I wonder what the start number was- the first units were made in 2009.

Kymooses,

Given Leo B's 2015 S/N can you estimate the Indiana plant count? That would be a starting point.

Our 173 pod  is a 2009 model. the serial number is 4x4TRP7169L004327.  I don't know the month of construction.  Is there any way to determine the actual build date (other than from FR)?

A couple of interesting facts about the r-Pods -

First started to be manufactured on October 27, 2008 (from the information on the Light recall  http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchResults?searchType=ID&targetCategory=R&searchCriteria.nhtsa_ids=11V010000 - http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchResults?searchType=ID&targetCategory=R&searchCriteria.nhtsa_ids=11V010000 )

Between 10/27/2008 - 11/20/2010 there were 2,721 r-Pods recalled in the US - There was a another recall earlier in Canada that had 713 Trailers notified ( http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1660&title=rpod-recall-from-transport-canada - http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1660&title=rpod-recall-from-transport-canada ) but I'm searching for official information on them ( http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/VRDB-BDRV/search-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng&mk=9200!5949!8226&md=R-POD&fy=0&ty=9999&ft=&ls=0&sy=0&rn=2010468&cf=SearchResult&pg=0 - http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/VRDB-BDRV/search-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng&mk=9200!5949!8226&md=R-POD&fy=0&ty=9999&ft=&ls=0&sy=0&rn=2010468&cf=SearchResult&pg=0 ).

Forest River reported that 25 Trailers had been exported during that period.   http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/UCM433067/RCQPR-11V010-0412.pdf - http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/UCM433067/RCQPR-11V010-0412.pdf

Every VIN (vehicle Identification Number) has 17 digits in it.
Digits 1,2,3  --  World Manufacturers Identifier ( WMI )
Digit 4- 8  -- Vehicle specific information
        4-- Trailer Type
        5 -- Body Style
        6,7 -- Length
        8 -- Axle configuration
Digit 9 -- Check Sum Number  I won't go into how to calculate this number.
Digit 10 -- Model Year   ( 2008-8,  2009-9,  2010-A,  2011-B )
Digit 11 -- Plant Code
Digits 12-17  Sequential Production Number

My Trailer that was custom ordered and built is dated 3/13/2009 (based off the label with the serial number on the from drivers side)  Has Sequential Number 4586

Interesting that your serial is 4586 even though that is in the middle of the light bar recall period which only had a count of 2721.  Maybe the difference were pods sitting in dealer inventories so they didn't need to be officially recalled.

I'm looking for for my notes as I think I had written down what production number mine was from the factory.  From my research they do not need to start with 0 in the seq number.  they can start at any number and skip as they like.
