Hello.. My wife and I have finally decided to move up from the popup to an R Pod. We have been looking all over and seems that unless we want a 178, we'll have to order it. Prices vary greatly with the 178's I have seen online. Can anyone tell us if we are better off paying higher for a local one or driving across several states to get one at a discount? Does a local connection ( abt 1 hr distant) make a huge difference in service and convenience? Thanks and we hope to join yall's ranks as owners soon!

Depends on how handy you are-   there will most likely be some things that need fixing or adjusting on a new one.  Personally I'd rather spend hours doing that myself than taking it back to a dealer and leaving it, even if he was 10 minutes away.   But if you can't do stuff yourself I'd say go with the local dealer unless he is really taking advantage.

Welcome, we did the same about 5 years ago, an love it. We first went to the 171 and have recently moved up to a 179.
This is our second new one from the factory and we have been lucky and have not had any problems with our pods ( except the first one where the decals started to peel) but appliance and structure wise things have been great!
It might be worth a call to the closer guy and at least see if he would match the price or would do any warranty work if needed.

Thanks..I am very handy and have basically rebuilt our current 2003 Flagstaff popup. I am planning to call the local dealer in just a bit and tell him the 178 is sold. I was hoping he could get it prepped for pickup tomorrow but could be easier to wait and pickup on Monday. Exciting!
