Well, it's finally happening. We signed paperwork Tuesday to order a brand spankin' new 178. Probably looking at late August delivery date Last time we had talked to the sales guy, there were units on the lot, and--at least at that time--not moving. We were waiting to order until we had a shelter built for our to-be-new unit, and that was taking a lot longer than we had anticipated. So, we decided to go ahead and get ourselves hooked up with one of those units that were sitting on the lot, just collecting dust.

Well, were we surprised Not only were there no new 178s on the lot, the only units that were projecting in were 179s . We didn't know that we wanted a 179, so we decided to go look at the 178 and 179 side-by-side. After driving back and forth between the two units several times, we agreed that the 179 was, indeed, a sweet piece of work: more storage than any other RPod we'd seen, spacious kitchen, plus all the other goodies that make RPods unique. But, we just liked the layout of the 178 better--it just seemed to have a more spacious "feel" to it, and we liked the forward dinette better--both my wife and I are short, so the lack of headroom there is definitely NOT a problem.

We were curious as to the differences between the 2014 and 2015 year models, and our salesman promised to find out for us. The biggest difference, I think, is the addition of an outside shower. Cosmetically, the outside graphic is new, and the fenders--formerly chromed--are now powder-coated black.

Recalling discussions about the importance of axle risers, I also recalled that when we were completing paperwork, I didn't specify axle risers. When I asked about them this morning, our salesman said that axle risers are now standard.

We're looking forward to the arrival of our unit, and I'm haunting the forums looking for things that I had forgotten to remember about camping--previously, we've been tenters, pop-uppers, and conversion van'ers. We're both looking forward to the RPod experience, and good times in places we've never been before, and places that we've been, separately, but look forward to enjoying together.

We look forward to learning more out our unit, and maybe meet some of you somewhere out on the road.

Showers are the only current revision change that is starting to roll out on new Pods.

Glad you like the 178, it's a wonderful floor plan!

They fenders weren't chrome they were brushed aluminum-  if they are powder coated I suspect they are now steel.

Interesting-  if they spec'd the proper axle they wouldn't need risers-  the torsion axles are available with different angles to the arms to set height.   It did sort of bug me they used risers instead of installing a higher axle in the first place.

We have a 2015 178, but no outdoor shower. Did you mean the 179? Now I have shower envy.

No, we ordered the 178, and the salesman said outdoor shower. I'll be interested to see if we have an outside shower. That's certainly not something that I'd fall on my sword over, unless we did a significant amount of big-water camping.

I won't argue about the fenders. Could well have been brushed aluminum. On my 2015, I'm expecting powder-coated.

I don't know enough about the axle thing to enter into an informed discussion. The bottom line, for me, it's something I don't have to be concerned about.

I believe that aluminum can be powder coated as well. At least I am sure there are aluminum powder coated porch railings. For what that's worth...

An outside shower is one of the first things I had added, years ago.  Nice to rinse off sandy feet and wash dishes outside.  We had one on our popup and missed it when we bought the pod.  I'll be interested to hear if they are now standard equipment.
