I just came across this and thought I would pass it along. It's a trip calculator which calculates fuel cost. Let's you play with lot's of variables.

I have been having fun with it adjusting mpg and fuel price and have determined that driving across country with my pod will cost me less than $400.00 vs. driving without pod. Only 13 cents a mile!! We can't afford NOT to do it! Justify, justify, justify...Smile

Interesting tool, oddly they didn't have our exact TV as a selection (only 2WD, not 4WD).

Depends if you have another vehicle as an option for non-pod trips, and if you need the extra room.  Speed is a factor, too.  It takes 1.25-1.5 times longer with the pod in tow.

A 3000 mile trip would cost $200 in our Prius, $450 in our 'burban, and $1000 TV+Pod.  I can think of 2 trips where I bought something big and took the TV to sleep in and pick up the item, and one trip with the family where we would have loved the ammenities in the pod but only took the TV and slept in it.  Partly to get there & back faster, partly to save a few bucks, partly because I was worried about room at our destination (side of the road to watch the last shuttle launch, litterally a million people showed up).
