Hello,

New here and in general on the RV Community. I just purchase from a family friend a 2009 172 in mint condition. 4k miles on it and I can only see signs of wearing on the stickers and yellow(ish) silicone. Computer Engineer specialized in robotics - also for years had a metal shop building skid plates, bumpers, sliders and roof racks for the Nissan Xterra community. Obviously - the first thing that I noticed was how low to the ground the trailer is and also how ridiculous expensive the lift kit is .... so I decided to make my own. I also built a rack for the dual battery and a rack for the generator. Scissors jacks were welded to the frame at 45 degrees as they should. LED's everywhere. In 4 days I'll head on my first trip - hopefully will enjoy. Glad to be here !

Welcome!!  Have been watching forum for months and will pick up new '15 172  POD in next week or so.  Bottom bunk looks perfect for two napping greyhounds.  Would you share details on your generator and how you designed your rack?  Also long term engineer and buying paired 2 KW Honda generators.  Why?  I can still lift them one at at time but not 100+ pounds for a 3 KW.   Thanks
