We and the Campin' Cocker Spaniels were settled into Site 62 in Anastasia State Park, just south of
St. Augustine, Florida.  Tuesday and Wednesday were perfect camping days. but we knew in advance
that Thursday might bring some weather problems.

We began monitoring the weather in the morning and the prediction was for a convergence of a tropical
wave from the southeast colliding with the cold front descending from the northwest-  the "perfect storm?"

Well, maybe not quite, but as Thursday afternoon rolled on, I became more and more concerned.
A tornado was (possibly) sighted in a nearby county, and lighting strikes identified thunder storm
cells of concern.

I told Joyce I thought it best to dismount the Rdome, which I did, as well as secure all other wind-blown
items.  When the storm was upon us, I dropped the Television mast, and we hunkered down.

It didn't seem real bad, although there was plenty of rain, but the Rpod was rock solid in whatever wind
we experienced.  This morning we picked up, cleaned up and headed out.

As we were stopped at the holding tank discharge point a gentleman approached to ask about our opinion
of the Rpod.  Of course, I said we loved it, and as the conversation went on I asked him how he managed
in the storm.  He said he owned a pop-up, (also by FR), and that he had lost his awning.

That made me glad that I had hauled down the Rdome.  It also made me glad we had the Rpod as our
home in the storm.....

We have had storms here in Indiana also. Jet stream keeps dipping down and driving temps into the 40's. weather is nice when we are working, soon as we are off the weather goes to poop. the pod is ready but the weather wont cooperate.

Taking down the rDome was a good move. The wind tore off our awning from a pop-up we had years ago. It sheared almost perfectly where it attached to the roof, and a canvas shop just sewed it back on at very little cost. We only lost about an inch of awning that we never noticed.

I have been pleasantly impressed with all our campers in storms; but, the rPod's egg shell design feels particularly protective.

The first time I clumsily setup the rDome in my driveway I did manage to make a small tear along a seam. This stuff worked great for the repair and now I always carry a small roll:

I quickly learned the "correct" way to assemble/disassemble the rDome. I can't imagine not having it. In fact, I'm now shopping for a good lightweight folding cot or two for extra sleeping and bragging rights for our two bedroom, one bath vacation home w/screened in porch! Smile

One other tip I quickly learned was to keep a close eye on the weather. The last trip we took, the weather was forecast to turn nasty the morning we were to break camp. After dinner, we disassembled the rDome, packed up the Pod and TV and even hitched up. We woke up to pouring rain and thunderstorms. Didn't even have to put on our Frogg Toggs to make a getaway.
