Blackflies aren't really much of a problem at Ferris; I wouldn't be concerned.  There will be a few mosquitos about at night, but a Thermocell will keep them at bay.

I had an opportunity to visit Ferris Prov. Pk. this past week-end and take some photos to show what the park looks like in June. Had a nice tour from the "Friends of Ferris Prov. Pk." who showed me the highlights.

THE TRENT RIVER

RANNEY SUSPENSION BRIDGE

RANNEY FALLS

VALLEYVIEW CAMPGROUND

BEDROCK CAMPGROUND

STILE OVER THE RE-CONSTRUCTED STONE WALL

TRAIL SYSTEM - OVER 8 KM

TRANS CANADA TRAIL - Passes through the park and alongside the Trent Canal

EMPIRE CHEESE SHOP & DOOHER'S BAKERY - No visit would be complete without a visit here

This is near my old stomping grounds I grew up on the trent severn waterway. I was a little north of there in Peterborough and Lindsay. I will have to see if I can get up there. It's a 12 hour drive for me.

Quick reminder that reservations open on SUNDAY, JANUARY 4TH at 7:00 AM. We encourage our fellow R-Podders to reserve their sites in the Valleyview campground, as Bedrock campground is ideal for bigger RVs.

So far we have 6 campsites booked by those who are arriving early. (Make sure that you send me an email to rpod@wray-canada.com so that I can add you to the FR "campout" list so that we have enough food for the BBQ.)

Hi Fellow poders, this would be our first Rpod event. We are excited to find an event in Ontario that we could join in easily.   Questions: would there be a charge for this event other than the camp site fees? Is there a program or schedule of events or is it pretty informal.? Look forward joining the fellowship of the pods!!

Hello Doug and Caroline,

Each event is organized differently but, as we are the hosts for the Rendez-vous, let me answer your question.

We have promoted this event as an informal FR "campout" and have planned it so that costs are at a minimum. After all, the fun is in the friends that we will make and the times we will have.

This means that your only cost is through Ontario Parks for your campsite.

We have planned a couple of tours to attractions that have no admission charge. As distances are short, we will car-pool or take our own vehicles.

There will also be programming that the Friends of Ferris and the Park Staff have offered to put on for us. Again, there is no charge. But, as an effort to "give back" to the Park, we are asking everyone to contribute a toonie or two so that we can raise money for them to re-build one of the boardwalks.

Of course, this does mean that you are responsible for your food/drinks/firewood etc. during your camping.

Oh ... I forgot ... as a "thank you" for you owning an FR rv, there is a free BBQ on Saturday night courtesy of FR.

It can't get much better than that ... can it?

Cheers,

David

Eleven out of twelve R-Pods are camping in Valleyview where the last electrical site #12 is located.

You would make reservations directly through the Ontario Parks reservation site. It is almost identical to Reserve America. You need to create a profile and book the dates you want.

Costs are roughly as listed plus the reservation fee and taxes. Luckily for you this year, your USDs get you 20% more bang for the buck.

There are no other camp-out fees. Only what you pay for food, gas, etc.

That's true, Ron. Unfortunately the only electrical site left is in Valleyview.

However both Bedrock and Valleyview have some wonderful, large, non-electric sites available.

Cheers,

Spent a chilly day on Sunday snowshoeing in Ferris Provincial Park, ON. Also checked out some of the things that we will see on our day trips during our 2015 Ontario F.R.O.G. Rendez-vous from June 4-7th.

We currently have 42 campsites reserved with 98 people attending. That includes 13 R-Pods and 29 other FR RVs coming from Ontario, Quebec, New York, Michigan and Indiana.

Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe that it is now less than a month before we will all gather for our 2015 Ontario FROG Rendez-vous at Ferris Provincial Park. There are 49 campsites reserved, with over 110 campers from Ontario, Quebec, New York, and Michigan.

We have tried to keep all of the planned activities quite informal as the goal is to have a fairly relaxed camp-out. You are welcome to come to any or all of the activities over the week-end.

The Ontario Parks staff and the “Friends of Ferris” join us in welcoming everyone.

See you in June …

Hi David and Liz,
This sounds like a wonderful weekend.  Unfortunately I am a little slow in finding this out and this year would not have worked.  Next year my husband will  be retired so we definitely would be interested if you have this event again.  Ferris Provincial Park looks like a beautiful park.  We bought a 2010 171 R-Pod last year and are really enjoying it.   Good luck with the 2015 Ontario Frog Renedez-vous.  Will be watching to see if you do this again.

Hi everybody!
My wife and new to RPod's (trailers in general), and we found this forum full of great information and ideas.
While looking for the first place to try it out, I saw this this event. I think it would be pretty cool to start of by meeting other owners and seeing how everybody uses there camper.

Oh well. Enjoy              ps. There is no truth to the rumour that a small child was carried away by one of our mosquitoes. Smile

We've booked our site! We'll be at #44. No electricity, but the site looks nice, and it will give us a chance to test the battery out.
We're bringing a slackline if anyone is interested in testing their balance. It's kind of like a tight rope and it's fun for all ages.
David, I'll send you an email so we can join the bbq.
Looking forward to meeting everybody!
