Hello R-pod Owners!
My wife and I just purchased a 2012 182G. The previous owner says the batteries do not charge while the trailer is being towed. My mechanic says that the batteries should charge. I am towing with a 2001 Chevy Tahoe. Does anyone have a definitive answer? My next move will be to test the batteries and see if they are charging while hooked to the Tahoe.
Thanks.

Thanks and Happy Camping!

They will charge if your tow vehicle is set up properly to do so.  Some require a fuse be added or some other modification.  Some are right as rain from the get go.

And congrats on the "g" model, they are the best Pods out there!    Big smile

As said if everything is wired right it should work-

Keep in mind though charging while driving is a slow charge as most harness wiring, in the vehicle, in the pigtail and in the camper is sized too small to charge as fast as your built in convertor/charger.
A completely dead battery of the typical 105AH size can take 12 hours of driving to fully bring back up!

Check your socket on the back of the tow vehicle to see if you have +12 and GND when running..looking into the car end socket check between the tabs at 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock.   7 o'clock being 12VDC and 1 o'clock being GND.
If you have +12 then the fault is in the trailer, if you don't it is in the tow vehicle.

All correct.  I would make sure the +12 line running to the Bargeman is at least 12 gauge, even better 10 gauge wiring.  To help I usually only run my fridge on LPG on the road since the DC mode uses a decent amount of power, about 10 amps, by itself.

Ya know I've never had satisfactory results (enough cooling in warm weather)  in any RV fridge I've tried to run on 12v!

I struggled with the one in my Aliner blowing out on LP until I rigged up a reignitor..and oddly-
looking at the specs the 12V heater was quite a bit lower wattage than the 110AC heater-   which explains why it doesn't cool as well on 12VConfused

I have read of people running an invertor in the tow vehicle to operate the fridge on AC while towing..of course that requires adding another connector interface to both the trailer and the tow vehicle.
