We got to pick up our 179 HRE today in Reno, NV!  This is a pretty big upgrade from our very basic tent-trailer, but we are very excited about it.  Unfortunately, we have already nearly ripped the door holder-open thingy nearly off the door, and ripped the sewer hose holder off the tongue going out a driveway with a not unreasonably deep gutter!  Now that the "first scratches" are out of the way, we are ready for our first trip this weekend.  Looking forward to the adventures ahead and to learning lots on this site.

Cheers!
GHillers

Welcome. When crossing over a dip or a rise that you might find at a drive or gas station entrance, take it at an angle, one wheel at a time. This way one wheel is always high or low and will help keep the front or the back from scraping. Goose

Welcome.  Did you order the "axle riser" option?  Most people do, for the reasons you've discovered.

Welcome! I, too, traded in a pop-up this time last year for a used 173. I mostly camp by myself and have found the rpod so much more convenient and easy to set up than a pop-up. Plus, it is much more secure and weatherproof with many nice conveniences not found on most pop-ups. I am sure that you will totally enjoy your new "home".

Thanks for the welcomes!
I'm not sure how the curb was navigated, as I wasn't watching at the time, but that is good advice to alternate wheels. And we do have the axle risers and the bigger tires, so it was a surprise that the tube came off. I think we will relocate the tube to a different place; I've seen various options on this site.
We've been having fun loading up the new trailer, and we are looking forward to our test camp-out this weekend.
Thanks everyone for your support!

Welcome! I am not sure but you may be the first on the forum to have a model 179. Sorry about your sewer hose carrier but that is minor. Is your trailer riding near level with the hitch at the right height? Enjoy your weekend camping with your new camper. David and Danette

We picked up our 179 today. When we looked at it a few days ago, the door holder had already been pulled out and repaired and was partially pulled out again. Dealer said a new door would be the next step. I'm wondering why they didn't open the door the other way where it would lay flat instead of stick out next to the fender. Enjoy the pod. I know we will.

Welcome and good camping, we loved our 176 r-pod had it 14 months, 43 nights of camping and about 4,300 miles, traded up to a Surveyor SP240 Sport. We noticed that it took less time to set up the R-pod then it did our old Coleman Pop-up. Great memories and there are a lot of helpful people at this site.
We never ordered the axle risers and never had a problem as long as you are cognoscente of your clearance. We were fortunate our drive way and where we camped had good clearance.   Be Well and have FUN!

Hello to everyone!  We pick up our 179 Wed after trading in our motorhome.  We started with a pop-up, moved onto a 5th wheel, onto the motorhome and now back to the 179.  I enjoy reading about all the mods everyone does and can't wait to see what we do with ours!
