Ladies and gents, I need a little information, if you'd be so kind.
We'll soon be picking up a 2014 178. We'll be towing with a 2000 Silverado 1500 w/ towing package. I've never equipped the truck with a hitch, and I'm not sure what I'll need for towing the Pod. What size ball does the hitch need, and will we need any kind of a drop to keep the unit fairly level while towing?
Thanks in advance for any information.

The Equalizer hitch/sway/equalizer system works for me with a 2010 Tundra with towing package and a 177 Pod:

The Pod needs a 2" ball.
I think the general consensus is that a top of ball height around 18 1/2 inches will have the pod level to a bit nose down, if the pod doesn't have risers, if it does, a top of ball height around 3" higher is required.
If you choose to use a WDH, they are adjustable. But you want to make sure you get a shank with enough drop to mount where you need it.

I pulled our rpod with a 2006 Chevy 1/2ton with a v/6. When I put the risers on I just flipped the ball over and we use a sway bar. You should check with your dealer for information. They should have everything you need right there. Moe

Well, it's considerably past the time I thought I'd have a Pod in my driveway (figuratively speaking). We *DO* finally have a unit on order--a 2015 178-- expecting delivery mid- to late-August. Sales guy said not to worry, dealership will take care of matching ball height to hitch (yes, we have a WDH as part of our purchase order). Reading through the various forums, I'm becoming aware of all the things I haven't yet taken into consideration--it's been a LONG time since we've done ANY kind of camping. I appreciate all your help, and all the information you all so willingly share. Again, thanks for all your help.
