We have a new RP177 and decided to stay in it, in our driveway before taking it on shakedown trip. I, the male slept at the bunk end (you can tell we are not newly weds) and my wife in the bed in the rear.
I had to abandon my bed and go inside to get some sleep, too hard for me.
Has anyone had to address this problem, and how? inflatable bed or? trading it in for new Prevost.
Help Ouch

I don't think any of us sleep on the original bed, most replace it with something nice and comfy from Camping World, the eurotop mattresses there are very nice.

The rest of us, including ourselves in our Pod throw memory foam on top of the bed.  I think we have 4 inches of foam on top of ours.

Mattresses are pretty rough sleep on that first shakedown night for us all.

Congratulations on the 177 though, we're glad to have you folks out there with us Podding!

You might want to check out  http://www.thefoamfactory.com/ - http://www.thefoamfactory.com/

We are ordering our "filler" cushions for our daybed conversion from them. Lot's of good info on the website and email support for questions has been great.

Memory foam, under the mattress pad on the original bed. Just fine.

We are not newly weds either.. but still sleep together,Wink, and the eurotop from CW is the answer for the actual bed area in the 177.

For the dinette, which I have slept on, an extra layer of memory foam over the dinette cushions should do the trick. You will of course have to store it somewhere when using the dinette as a dinette.. I did not think it was that bad when I slept on it, but 20 years in the Army, sleeping on/in tanks, has me conditioned to a "hey it ain't hard as steel, and I can lay out straight.. it's golden" mentality about mattresses.

Up to my early 50's I slept in a tent on the ground with only a sleeping bag. Moving up to the r-pod was in many ways luxury and comfort. And the mattress that came with the r-pod was soon replaced; the sleeping bag on the the ground was more comfortable for me. Those springs and the noise was not very comfortable for me. I think most have replaced the old mattress or covered it up with a topper of some kind.      David

Did all miss the poster was talking about the "bunk end" and not the bed in the back? That would be the dinette converted to a bed I am thinking, and not the bed mattress.

FWIW we still use the bed the Pod came with after three years and are doing fine. We never tried the dinette.

we've slept on ours once. It was a rough night. The bed was a little hard and hearing different noises etc.
WE will be purchasing at least a 2inch memory foam topper ASAP ! Smile

Not all.. Wink

If and when you wear out your stock mattress, you can have ours. Slept on once, still in the factory plastic. Sitting in the basement since.
