These are used on the pods.  Note they say even if your key code isn't on the list, if you can still remove the key in the 9 o'clock position it will be replaced.

Thanks for the information. My key number is not on the list, so I will check the locking in the morning. Things like this make this group valuable.

I had to drill mine out.  My key got stuck in it and due to trying and trying to unlock it the key broke off inside.  So I just use the regular door lock.

Thanks, Doug.  I filled out the online survey and was then directed to telephone the company.  It will take 7 to10 business days to receive the cylinders and keys.  This is a DIY removal and replacement.

Thanks, Doug!

Yup - mine's on the recall list.  I wonder if they'll help out a Canadian.

I did have a problem with the deadbolt a couple years ago.  With a lot of jiggling, I was able to get the door open; I took the lock apart and reassembled it and its been fine since.

At least my daughters will realize I wasn't nuts when I got locked inside My-pod!  We were at an overnight at one of my daughters; they were all down by the campfire. Could not get door unlocked from the inside. No one could hear me yelling. Used cell phone to call and get someone to come up and unlock door from outside to let me out. My lock is one that is listed as recalled.

Fortunately, my key number was not listed, and it also passed the "9 o'clock test".

Very appreciate the heads up, though.  If I leave the campsite for any reason and Joyce and the pups are
inside the 'Pod, I am asked to lock the door until my return, and I would hate to think that my loved ones
might be trapped inside.

Most likely through the camper manufacturer's list of owners, or state DMV registrations.

Agreed, the same way they do for cars and trucks. Through the registration records of the states, and then mailed out.

Just for information, on September 25 I contracted Fastec for replacement cylinders. Today I received them in the mail, 2 cylinders and 2 keys.  The instructions are very clear and I replaced both cylinders, probably in less than 5 minutes.  They provide a "removal" key and no tools are required.

terry:  maybe i missed something here, but what do you mean by you haven't heard back yet.  are you talking about from the lock company?  i don't think just filling out the on-line survey is enough.  i believe you have to call the company as well.  when i left messages with them, they never called back.  finally i got in touch with a real person!!!  just trying to help out if this is the case.  hogone

probably a goofy question here.  i put my new locks in yesterday.  when they are both in the lock position, 1 key insert is vertical, the other horizontal.  i don't remember them being this way, but then maybe that's why they were recalled.  just wondering if this is right, or do i have one incorrectly placed.  hogone

That is how my old ones always were. Just got the new ones, haven't installed them yet.

Just got my new cylinders the other day and got around to looking at them today.  The "EHH R " pod is away till spring so won't get them in till then but a couple of questions. 1: does it matter which clyinder goes where? 2: on 1 of the cylinders a brass thing was sticking up does that matter when trying to place the new cylinder in?  I didn't try moving the new key to get the brass (ring) till I posted this.  The instructions seem to be very simple.  thanks in advance .

I have never had any issues with the locks so I was not going to mess with them (if it's not broke, don't fix it), but after checking the key code decided to send for the replacements while the recall is still on. They came to day and with the snow and ice coming in this weekend it may be after Christmas before they are installed. Goose

My deadbolt worked fine but the other lock sometimes let my key go in and sometimes wouldn't so I became wary of locking that lock.  Was afraid I'd get locked out.  When I saw the recall, I contacted them and they sent replacements even though mine was not one of the numbers they listed.  It was an easy switch.

Great heads up.  Locked the dogs in last fall out at Weston Missouri.  Husband said I screwed up.  The locksmith said there was something funky about the locks and suggested havign them replaced.  Of course until this post my husband said that the locksmith had the hots for me and was just making me feel better.  Cant wait to inform him of the recall!

No, it does not matter which cylinder goes where.  Either one will work in either part of the lock.

I don't understand the second question fully, but I assume the ring you refer to is on one of the new cylinders.  Are you referring to one of the pins in one of the new cylinders, it should retract when the key is turned.

Ah ok, thanks bob, yes, I guess the brass pin is what I was referring to. One of them was raised, and I was leery of trying anything till I heard from someone. In the spring when I'm able to get the pod out of storage (first of May I'm hoping) I'll install the new locks. Thanks again

Hi Curious of everyone's opinions. Are these new locks going to be an oging problem of working not working getting locked in or out. As I have posted we are seriously looking at the new 179. We are "gunshy" as we got locked in on a brand new Tiffin Motorhome.I know not the same thing but we have a dog and don't want to be locked in or out at the whim of this "new" system.

Is this just a real bad batch or is there a real engineering issue here? OR am I just being parinoid !!!
Thanks JohnOuchCry

This was/is a problem with an old style, key only lock. It was a problem with lock cylinder internals, and not just R-pods affected. In fact a buddy of mine just got 4 new cylinders for their Coachman something or another square old box. They started having problems with the front door, and then the rear. When our Bauer was installed I gave him our factory lock and latch to replace one with. Now "we" have a spare.

A 179 will have the Bauer NE digital lock. It has a key backup. If it should fail, or batteries go dead, you just use the key to open the lock if outside and door locked. Do not store all the keys IN the pod..Wink

Do they come with an "instal" key thing? If so, is the instal key in the one without the raised pin? I know with Yakima all key systems, when you put the instal key in all the pins retract, but some are out without it in..

Yes, an installation key comes with the new cylinders and all pins were in the retracted position with the key inserted.  Otherwise, the new cylinder would not go into the lock.  You made a good point but I don't remember if any pins were raised before the key was inserted in the cylinders.

Ok so I've got the new set here. I'm going to go down and insert key turn it and see what happens. Hope the raised pin will go into the retracted position. I'll let you know what happens.

I contacted Fastec a few weeks ago; our 2012 R-Pod has the recalled lock installed. So far, I've heard nothing back. I used their online service and left a voice message on their contact number as well.

How long did it take after contacting Fastec for you guys to get new lock assemblies?
