Just wanted to say hi... Just joined this site.  Waiting for my new RP177 which should be ready for pick up at the dealers on Tuesday. Bought it off the lot after seeing it there every day this summer as I drove past. Retiring at the end of the year and this is my present to myself, lol.

Welcome, curtaf!  I just bought a 178, but it's still in Ohio.  My brother is going to drive half way to meet me pulling it, then I'll pull it back to Utah.  I can't wait!

This is a great forum; everybody's so helpful and friendly!

Thanks SchipperPod. Good luck with your 178.  Make sure your brother doesnt keep it for himself, lol. I had an old ultralight (Coleman, i think) pop-up truck camper years ago and although it was not a quality unit, had some nice times in it. Sold it when work got too busy, and I miss being able to get away, so I have no excuses now, lol.

curtaf, get ready to do tours. Donna and I did a 2 nighter close to home at our fav local 40 minute away spot. We did 3 or 4 tours of people walking by and saying ; what is that ? Can you stand up in it ? then I am going to go get my husband , he has to see this. one group of 3 gals we invited inside then it was, OMG it has a Microwave and a Convection oven, and a shower, it has a shower and a t.v. and one gal said it has better cabintes than my house. They are always amazed, and I have to admit, even on our third season I am still amazed at the quality and the uniqueness of the little pod.

Picked up the Pod on Tuesday 17th and have it in my driveway, going over and learning the appliances and features.  Dsmiths was right, so far I've given 5 "tours" to neighbors and passers by. Amazing.  Having almost as much fun with it in my driveway as I would on the road.

Since my job requires me to be on call, I'm limited as to how much I can do, until after New Years, when my retirement kicks in and as soon as the weather lets up, me, my dog and the Pod will be off to where-ever!

Spent The entire weekend in the pod, just me and the dog, getting stuff in place and trying all the equipment. All works okay, no leaks, sparks, or sputters. Only thing I don't have is 30 amp to run the AC, but the dealer assured me it works, they had it running while they were prepping it. Guess I'll find out when I get to a campsite this spring. Brandon (dog) immediately claimed dibs on the bed, but we worked it out. Techntrek, you're right, it's gonna be a long winter seeing it sitting there in the driveway... It's already been a long week, lol. But, I'll use it here, get to know it, until I have to get it winterized for the season, so it shouldn't be too bad. Lol.

You'll have no problem running the A/C from a standard 15 amp outlet at home, just don't run the microwave or the electric water heater element at the same time.  Congrats!

Curtif, we bought our RP-172 late in the season and only got to use it twice the first year. It was hard to winterize and cover it up. I have the factory cover that has a zipper on the main door. I spent a lot of time that first winter checking things out, watching t.v. running the appliances. made coffee in the microwave, read the owners manuals. designed light weight tool kits to carry. planed and dreamed. its all fun.

Thanks Techntrek, I'll give it a try. I haven't had a chance to sit down and read all the manuals yet for the tech specs.  Like Dsmiths said, I need something to do this winter, lol.

First thing this morning, I went out to R-Pod and cranked thermostat way down, and sure enough AC came on and ran cold. Dog shivered a lot so I had to turn it off, but at least I know it works. Thanks for info Techntrek. All systems go!

Congrats on the new pod.  Might offer a couple of suggestions.  First, get a 3 ring 3" notebook with a package of clear 8x10" file holders.  Put a warranty, instruction book, invoice in each. Keep in trailer.  You will find that in the future when you need to know something, it will be there.  Also consider replacing that terrible mattress with a real one.  Enjoy.  Safe Travels.
