We have a 177 and would I like to take crack at quieting down the water pump.
Is there any easy way of getting the darned thing unscrewed so that I can put some kind of noise dampening material under it?
I can reach one screw but the others are almost impossible to get at.
I hate to think how much a repair bill would be if I had to pay someone to replace the pump.
Any suggestions
Ed

Mine was fairly easy to remove - its held down by just 4 screws and it wasn't a whole lot of effort to undo them.  I did end up lying on the floor and using a short-handled screwdriver - but I'm sure you've thought of the obvious.

To quiet mine, I made two modifications:
1) I put down 2 cheap foam-rubber mousepads under the pump (and screwed the pump down through the mousepads)
2) I put 1.5' of foam pipe insulator on the input and output water lines connected to the pump

I have had mine out.. it was a bit of a job, but not that bad.

I put pipe insulation over the lines and that helped a lot. I didn't bother to put anything under the motor itself even though I had it out. We don't ever leave it in the "on" position, so it only runs when I want it to anyways..
