This photo was in a local CraigsList ad for an R-Pod.  I thought some of you might be interested in how a shower sink can be installed.  Not very pretty, but to each his own.

I'm confused ... were there Pods built without a sink in the wet bath?

Sinks were not available in the earlier pods, including mine.  There have been severaal posts from owners that have sinks and wish they didn't because they do take up valuable space in an already small shower area.  Just a matter of personal preference.  They are a standard feature of all the newer pods.

The faucet in my sink has the shower connection facing down into the sink. This is terrible. Any one exchange it for a diverter with the connection at the top? Where did you get it? What was its part number, and did you have to make mods to make it fit?

The sink wasn't added until the 2011 models I believe.  My 2010 (built in 2009) doesn't have it and I'm happy about that.  If I bought a new pod that would be one of my very first podmods, pulling it out.

If you took it out what material would you use to fill in the holes?

I'd use caulk.  Either white or clear depending on which would blend in better.

We like the sink and prefer not to wash hands in the kitchen sink.  Just a matter of preference.  It really doesn't take up that much space.  And the faucet in ours works fine even with the shower coming out of the bottom.

I did look under the sink, and the hole is quite large.  From the "free-style" cut and the jagged edges it looks to me like an assembler took a sawzall and chopped most of the paneling away under the sink to make room for the trap and other plumbing.  It would take a chunk of something to patch over the top of the paneling and then be calked over.  Not impossible but some care would have to be taken to make it look good.

I don't have a bathroom sink, but if I did and wanted to remove it, I think I would find it best to just cover the entire wall with a sheet of new laminate.

I didn't intend for that photo to be taken seriously, but I am amused by it.

Yeah, that first pic is very Frankenstein.  Functional, but not a thing of beauty.

We removed the bathroom sink in our new 172. It was the first mod we did.  Just covered up the hole with some vinyl flooring squares. Not pretty but good for now. Also have a new faucet coming that is just a shower faucet with no diverter.

We will probably resurface all the bathroom walls with some lightweight panels in the future.

I cut my shower hose about 2in. Below the faucet and reconnected it with a right angle plastic 3/8 in fitting. The hose is out of the sink and passes directly to the right and up to the shower head. If some body will tell me how to post a picture I will show what it looks like.

Look for the Post Reply button on the left side below the last post, or look for the little arrow pointing up-right just above the Quick Reply box.  Once you are in the "full edit" mode look for the little picture of the tree to add a picture.
