Just curious. We're getting ready to buy our first camper (R Pod 178). We're 66 and were wondering about the age of Podders.

Well I will be 64 in September and Donna will be 62 in Feb. we bought our first camper 2 plus years ago, a 2011 RP-172. We are still working but working on an exit plan. Right now we are into 1 to 3 nighters within 1 or 2 hours from home. so far so good. I think we could do 2 or 3 weeks if there are things to do nearby. We like to walk or hike (slow) trails and campgrounds. We try to maybe do a short day jaunt nearby the camp site and see the sites, take in a little lunch. so far so good. If I want recliners, fireplaces, big screen t.v. I will stay at home. We like the small quaintness of the Pod. the quality and workmanship for the price is great. Go for it and have a blast like we are.

We were 36 & 37 when we bought ours 4 years ago, now 40 & 41. The average age of podders I've seen tends to be older, mostly post-children. Not all of course, with some in their 20's and 30's, and some like us, have children.

We were 33 and 35 when we bought ours last year. I've always assumed we're some of the younger podders out there. We also have a 17-month old daughter who pods with us.

This question was asked on the Lance trailer forum and as here it got a lot of response. I am 58 and my wife 54, the r-pod is the first camper we have owned and camped in and we bought it new in the beginning of 2009. On the Lance trailer forum a man bought his first trailer at 81 but in the past he has had truck campers. David and Danette

My wife are both 48. This is one of many campers we have owned started with a popup for 10 years with the kids and dragged it all around, switched to a 30 foot trailer seasonal in a camp ground when they were teens and we running them around to activities, now we camp without them so move down to the pod but feel more at home with this than any of the others. we also have a Lance Truck camper and also several vintage campers have come and gone. One day i will find the right vintage camper and refurb to what we want..< ="cosymantecnisbfw" co="cs" id="SILOBFWID" style="width: 0px; height: 0px; display: block;">

My wife and I began camping about 40 years ago, gradually working up from pop-ups to a 34 Class A motor home with 2 large slides. We bought our 2010 173 in June, after taking a 6000 mile trip to the Southwest in a slightly larger travel trailer. I am 74.

49 for me and 47 for M. This is our first camper we have bought, but both of us grew up camping (me in tent, popup trailer and truck camper, she in 5th wheel). We did a lot of camping earlier in our marriage, didn't have an opportunity to for a while (those were the years we owned a boat and spent weekends out on the lake), and started camping again a few years back. For us with no kids and just Comet to tag along the Pod is the perfect size for our weekend-to-weeklong trips.
At some point down the road we will probably step up to a slightly larger trailer, but that is years away from now.

| Our first camping experience-ever. We bought a used 2012 177. Husband is 74, and I am 70. Went to Mississippi Palisades state park for 2 nights. Went fairly well. When we got there, I messaged our son(who camps) and said our site had electricity, but no water. No one ever told us we should get water from the hydrants throughout the campgrounds! We are the "greenest" of beginning campers.

Bought the Pod last fall; I'm 47 now. I grew up tent camping. When I was married I took my 2 boys tent camping quite a bit. The ex was not a camper. Now that I'm Ms. Independence, I can go wherever and do whatever I want. I chose RPod. Woot!

I am 72. I have been RV,ing for about 17 years. I full timed for 15 of those years. I just got a 178 and have not taken it out for its first shake down camp out. My TV is a 2004 Dodge 2500, with a lot of Gale Banks goodies. It was used to pull a 30 ft toy hauler with my motorcycle in it. I recently moved in with my kids, but still have that wander lust in me. I ride a 2010 Moto Guzzi Griso and love to take very long trips. I now need to figure out how to pack the rig with the needed supply's. I think that will be the biggest challenge for me. Hope to be able to contribute to this forum when I can. Allen

My husband and I have been camping for 39 years. We have had conversion vans, a Class C, an ALiner pop up, a 29 ft. Camper trailer and then last year we bought a used 177 RPod. Pete is 75 and I am 63. We plan on camping for quite some time. Now that we have been cross country camping twice, we plan on using the RPod up and down the east coast. We love to camp in the Keys.

Since others have been mentioning camping history, and I only posted my age earlier...
Started backpacking when I was about 12. Converted to "ultralight" backpacking around 2001, cutting my pack weight from 45 pounds to 22 for a weekend trip (including water). This probably influenced my decision to get the pod. Started camping in popups when I was 14. Parents bought one and then we learned to set it up while on a 5 week trip around the US. Continued trips with the fam until I moved out. Started my own family in a popup about 12 years ago, then the pod. So about 27 years in campers with a few years off in the middle.

I'm 48 and my wife is 35. We've both been campers our whole lives, either with families or through Boy and Girl Scouts. My Dad started me off young when he built me a folding canvas and wood crib so that I could start camping at the ripe old age of 6 months.

Wife and I have been camping for 43 years now and started with tents then popup, cabover, trailer, 31f class a then we went smaller, bought a T@B then traded it for our new RP 172. This is the greatest little camper I have seen.
I am 68 and wife 73 and we plan on camping for another 20 or so.

69 years old. In 1964 my wife and I honeymooned in a 14 foot Shasta. Two camper vans, three pickup campers and 5 travel trailers later we're going to reprise our honeymoon next fall with an extended trip in the Pod for our 50th. We'll travel farther, but probably do some other things a little less than 50 years ago.

Not too far behind you. husband is 74. I will be 71 next month. Never ever camped before. All new to us. i am much more enthusiastic about it than my husband! I have never towed before, but may have to learn. not going to let it sit in driveway! Told him today that if we were not going to use it, we should let someone else enjoy it!

Husband and I are both 49. We spent 8+ years camping with two boys in a pop up trailer. Due to work and sports schedules – camping became more difficult the last couple years. Last year we made the decision to sell the pop-up – bought the R-pod this June!! Oldest son has graduated college and is working and supporting himself; we had to say an emotional good-bye to the youngest son on Monday as he left for Marine Corp boot camp (hardest, saddest, most proud moment of my life – so far!). Although we’ve been backyard camping since June our “official shake-down” is this weekend. Looking forward to the distraction of thinking about the black tank and hot water heater – and not the roller coaster emotions of being empty-nesters!!
