 Have 2012 177. The door ,which swings up, on the small cabinet over the sink and stove area does not stay open. It is very hard to reach things inside when the door keeps falling down. Is it supposed to stay open. Has anyone found a way to modify this to stay open while getting things out?

One can install a hydraulic lift to help, but it isn't designed to stay open. It certainly isn't designed easy of use, but does keep thing tightly locked up during travel! ------------- Bay Area Crew 2013 178 Beach Pod F-150 SuperCrew ...sempre in viaggio sul mare... |

I remember reading someone's addition of a lift to keep it open, but its been at least 2 years. Would take some searching to find it.

I installed this strut on my 177 last week. Works great and while you only need one, you get 2 for $6. (I paid $8, they just lowered the price.) ------------- Brush and Floss, It is the Secret of Life! |

It's a little tricky to mount.. if you look at the picture I posted, notice how close it is to the closing edge of the frame. It only has a 1" or so of movement, so you have to get it as close to the pivot point as possible on the door, then just open the cabinet as high as you want, line up the anchor point with the inside of the side frame, and put in the screw. took longer to write than do..

FR must have fixed that issue by the time they made my '13 176. My over-the-sink cabinet door whips open so quick, I would smack my knuckles at the top. I've learned to move my knuckles now. ------------- 2013 176HRE / 2017 Ram 1500 |

I just ordered the small strut- Thanks to Doc for finding it, and to furpod for the mounting instructions.
