I have purchased, but not picked up our 178. (3 days til I can take an afternoon off to pick it up) There is so much good stuff here on the forum, so I just wanted to get my feet wet with this post. I am curious, though, if anyone out there has any experience towing one with a Lexus RX350. Seems like it should work fine but if you know of something that I might should know, I would appreciate a note. I look forward to hearing from you...and hopefully seeing some of you on the road. (Our roads will currently be mostly in central Texas)

Welcome to the community!  You'll love the 178.  Don't know about towing with the Lexus, but if you don't have a brake controller installed, that is an absolute must.

Welcome almost new Podder!

Just a quick glance at your towing specs I think you'd have a well enough time with your TV and pulling with it.  I doubt you'll stay under the 3500lbs once towing though.

By the time you have all your wet weight, camping gear, people, food and all that I think you'll be pretty close.

Even with that I think you'll manage pretty well, that's some decent HP and torque on your TV.

Happy Podding, be sure and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the welcome and info Tars Tarkas. We are looking forward to our first outing. The Pod did have brakes already on it and we are having the controller installed before we pick it up. So we should be able to STOP...just hope we have enough umph to GO  Smile

LOL, kymooses...I will be needing a 1 ton pickup if my wife loads like she does for other types of trips.
Thank you for the welcome. I had read other Toyota owners say that theirs pulled well and my Lexus is just a lightly spruced Toyota. I guess I will begin finding out though on Wednesday. We are excited. Thanks again for the input and welcome.

One advantage to the lean storage available in Pods is that you lean to only take what you need.

Thanks for the note Keith-N-Dar. I think you are right. And most of our trips will be to fairly close state parks here in Texas, so we should not need a lot of stuff. I guess I will get my first hint at what to expect when we bring it home Wednesday. That is a 60 mile trip with some fair hills.
