We are heading out next Wednesday for the long weekend to Table Rock SP in the NW corner of South Carolina.  Looking forward to getting in a couple of good day hikes while we are there.

Where's everyone else going?

I tend to be a grump in crowded campgrounds on long weekends. We will stay home and go another time this summer.

In Canada our national holiday, Canada Day, is on the 1st of July so this weekend is the long weekend. My wife and I had plans to take the trailer to a piece of lakefront property her family has on Lake George here in New Brunswick. We put in a 30 amp outlet and water line. but I does not look like the weather is going to co-operate. Rain all day today and tomorrow. We may go up for Sunday and Monday.

Lake George is a beautiful place in an wonderful Provence.  I hope to get back there again in the next few years, and on to Nova Scotia.  I can't get Digby scallops here!

It is funny. In 1982 I did my Basic Training for the Canadian Armed forces in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. Just down the road from Digby. that is the first time I had Digby Scallops. I never got back to the the Maritime provinces again until 12 years ago when I moved to New Brunswick. I looked forward to getting Digby Scallops but all of the Scallops sold here come from The Norumberland Straight between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island so still no Digby Scallops.

Given a choice of Digby scallops and one of those Bay of Fundy lobsters I will take the scallops. Even better would be scallops and a lobster.

We're camping with friends (not podders, but forest rivers) until Thursday morning. We're leaving for home just when the insanity starts! I don't really care for camping on holiday weekends.

We are lucky to have a great state park with a nice wooded sites, pretty little lake, beach, boat rentals, hiking, mountain biking, and equine trails, disc golf course, basketball courts and a playground, all about a half hour from our house. We're going there with our kayaks and bikes and a load of firewood and turning off our phones.

We're headed for Ruidoso, NM for some cooler weather and returning in a week. It's 104 here today and it was sure hot loading up, but it will be in the 70's in Ruidoso next week! Also, checking out towing with the new car before we head out for a couple of months near the end of July.

Just watched the news about the insane heatwave out there, hopefully it cools down before we reach NM in a few weeks.

Like others have said, holiday weekends aren't fun for us.  We'll spend the 4th with friends and then we hit the road on the 5th headed south.

I agree with Keith and Dar. Donna and I stay home on long holiday weekends. We were supposed to go for a two nighter yesterday and today but close to home favorite sites were sold out. We go camping for quiet, outdoors, relaxation, hiking, fishing. nothing wrong with kids ridding bikes and having fun, but Most of my experiences with long weekend holidays seem to be radios blaring, dogs barking, loud exhaust. If I want racket and confusion I will go to the local mall.

I usually do not do holiday camping, but this is the week my sister was able to get off work.  We are heading to Valley of the Rogue State Park, between Grants Pass & Medford, Oregon.  It'll be nice & hot!  We plan to tour the Oregon Caves (it'll be nice & cool inside) and the Great Cats World Park.  Maybe do a run on the Rogue River in a jet boat.

Yellowstone.  Will be first time in a campground as we typically boondock.  Hopefully the grandeur of Yellowstone outweighs the campground experience.

Yellowstone awesome, but even prettier is the Grand Tetons just South. National Park campgrounds are almost boondocking but are around $20/night. No generators allowed at night, but even in July you will need covers at night.. Love the high desert. Niece is Park Ranger in Moose.

We don't like the madness and fight for a site of the holidays either. Have friends with a camp on the Pearl River just South of us in Bush, LA. They invited us to bring our camper down. Offered to put in a 30Amp RV plug... We are going down to hang with great friends and bring the pod.

To the OP: Table Rock is a great park from my memory. Granted, that memory is 25 years old, but I spent much time there as a kid.

We're still pre-podders, but we are heading to Yellowstone as well. It's becoming almost an annual thing!

We usually go to our lake lot on holiday weekends, it's only 15 minutes from our house, but this year we are headed to Florida to visit our son who is in the military. We can't leave until Tuesday afternoon and we have to be back to work the following Monday. That is a whole lot of driving for a short visit but I need to see my kid even if just for a couple of days. We'll spend more time driving than we will camping.

It appears that only Noah will be camping in North/Central GA the next couple of days.  Flood warnings everywhere between now and Friday.  Just gonna keep the camper on high ground.  Have a blessed 4th all!

Yeah, it has been a mess around here lately.  We actually decided to not fight the idiots on the road and the t-storms at the same time this afternoon/evening, and are now heading out very early tomorrow morning.  And our campsite is on the top of a hill, not the bottom!
