Hopefully someone will understand what I'm trying to describe, not sure what to call it!!!  It is rubber molding that goes from the very back bottom to the very front bottom on both sides and follows the curvature of the pod along the top.  It fits in a channel the entire way.  It appears to be (possibly) some sort of rubber molding that covers screws. Well long story short, mine is cracking on one section, very brittle.  Anyone encounter this?  Sorry if my description is poor! hogone

Those strips are just as you described.  They are vinyl trim strips that are used on almost all RVs to cover the corner screws and improve the appearance of the metal strips.  The vinyl trim comes in several widths and are readily available from RV supply stores and on eBay.  They are relatively inexpensive and very easy to replace.  Normally, the strips will last almost indefinitely.

In your case, they should be covered by your warranty.
