Can the 20 gal lp tank be replaced with a 30 gal? Our son has one from his old camper.

Yes, absolutely. The 30 pound tank will fit in the holder without problem. You may have to replace the tiedown strap with a longer one, tho. And, of course, the tank cover (if your dealer provided one) will have to be replaced.
When you say 'old one', don't forget that a tank is only certified for 10 years of use. It is possible to get it recertified for another 5 years beyond that, but the cost is well on the way to purchasing a new tank.

I just thought of something else. The "older" style of tanks can no longer be used. So you may be out of luck anyway. Take the old tank to a place that fills them and they can tell you if you can use it or not.

Do most of you re-fill your tank or just use trade-ins? Just curious. Trade-ins at wallymart are $17.95, not sure how much a re-fill is? I thought I read somewhere though in a prior post that you actually get more gas from a re-fill vs a trade-in (pounds). I do have the original pod tank, but have used refills as well.

I have done both. I have two tanks. The new one that came with the Pod and and one that I have traded a couple of times. It depends which is cheaper. There is a local store that puts trade ins on sale for $10. When they do I trade my older one. The new one I get filled at costco for $11. I take both tanks with me but I do not have a dual tank rig so I have to physically change over tanks.

Yes a 30 pound tank will mount just fine. Been running one for three years. Didn't have to change a thing.
