I'm looking to spend a few weeks around Ruidoso this summer and was wondering if anyone had a recommendation as to a park/RV site.

We'll be going near that area mid-July, hitting Carlsbad, Roswell, and Albuquerque.  I know my wife found a campground near Roswell but I can't recommend it since we haven't been there and it isn't all that close to Ruidoso.

Twin Spruce RV Park seems to be the best one in the area:  http://ruidoso.net/twinspruce/ - http://ruidoso.net/twinspruce/

At Roswell, don't forget the UFO museum, kinda hokey but was still fun.

Realize this is four years ago and my first time with Podterfly.  For Carlsbad I stayed at the KOA, for Rosewell I found a very small (about 20 campers all gravel $20.00) RV place by the Zoo.  Be sure to stop at the visitor center (lots of parking in rear) giveaways and coupons.  The UFO museum is a little pricing but worth it, and when I was there the zoo, the three WONDERFUL art museums were free so it off sets the UFO place.  Ruidoso hills (mts) were a little scary (first trip and all), plus I got there along with a huge storm.   Pull into Walmart spent the night.  From there we visited White
Sands (there was RV parking at the White Sands (and for military the AFB as a FAMCamp).  Albuquerque I stayed at Kirtland (Nice Famcamp for those who can use it).   Hope that helps.   I was there is July and as well and your REALLY appreciate the A/C our pods have.

A spot I missed was Malpais-Valley of Fires, Carrizozo, NM.   Looked like a nice camp ground and would have stayed  had I not had other obligations.   BTW Route 54 From White Sands North was mostly flat if I remember correctly, I cam back via 25 which was Nothing but hills.  If you do go that way Truth or Consequences, NM is a great place to spot.  Wonderful hot springs.

Have a GREAT Trip.
