We de-winterized the pod, packed-up and headed to High Falls state park about 70 miles south of us on Wednesday for our first trip of the year. The first two days were miserable, a high of 50 degrees and 25-30 mile an hour winds. We were planning to come home on Friday but since Friday and Saturday were supposed to be nice we decided to stay an extra night. Glad we did. It was mid 70's with no wind. Wonderful weather. The park is really beautiful with a gorgeous waterfall and nice hiking trails. And to make Friday perfect I walked over to the river (right behind our campsite) made a few casts and caught a nice 2 to 2 1/2 pound bass. Can anyone say...dinner. Yum. We wanted to stay another day but life was calling and we had to head home.

Even more jealousy here...about 10 degrees colder and snow on the way in the wee hours of the night.
It's hard to immagine right now, but we are planning our first camping trip for a month from now: Earth Day weekend, April 19-21.

Rain and upper 30's has to be some of the worst weather. I'd rather have snow. Then again, I'm not happy if it goes below 70.
We're planning on heading down to Florida (Daytona area) the first week of April. Should be beautiful weather.

Hopefully so- Right now we are in the typical late winter pattern- Nice weather before the front, cold rain during its passage, cool, damp and cloudy giving way to nice weather, repeat.
Today, the first day of Spring, revives our hopes and spirits!!

Still snowy here. Very unusual here for this time of year. 50 plus degree weather on the way next week. Maiden voyage still planned for 2 weeks from now. It has to warm up soon

Burr, that looks way to cold. It's still cold here and supposed to be down in the upper 20's the next three nights. Guess I'll have to re-winterize the pod.

Just returned from our first trip of the year to Cape Disappointment in Washington State. Lewis and Clark may have been disappointed there, but the weather was fine for us. Also, never visit the Cottage Bakery in Long Beach, WA. It's just terrible for your waistline!

I do love a good bakery. Fortunately, there aren't any around us.
Winterized the POD on Monday and will de-winterize it again on Friday. Hopefully, for the last time this year.

We had a good trip to Florida. Crooked river state park (GA) was beautiful but the no-see-ums were terrible. Spent most of the time in the pod. If we went out we had to wear long pants, long sleeved shirts, hats, gloves and face protection(it was 80+ degrees out).
We stayed at our first commercial campground in Daytona. Luckily we only needed 30 amps so we got 'stuck' way in a back corner by ourselves. The rest of the campground was packed so tight I was surprised that some of RVs could extend their slideouts. The bathrooms were disgusting so I had to learn to shower in the pod. The oxygenics shower head is great, by the way. When we were leaving we found that the only dump station was about 2 feet from another RVs front door. YUCK.
Our final night was at the KOA south of Savannah. It was very nice, clean and expensive. $43 a night. Wish we could have spent a few days there but had to get home. An added inducement was a Scottish pub/restaurant just down the road. Ok food and over 100 single malts. Broke the bank that night.

I would have hated to be the RV in front of the dump station!

We had our first trip of the year, and our first trip ever, since getting our pod in December. We drove from Tacoma, WA to just north of Port Townsend and stayed at Fort Worden State Park. They have nice campgrounds both near the beach and also a wooded area. We had great weather (mostly sunny and about 55 degrees). It is a wonderful, historic park, located on the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula with lots of areas to hike and great things to see. If you travel to Washington State, check it out.

Well every thing was ready for a Two nighter, Pod ready, fridge on. all we had to do was load clothes and food, then BLAM 2 low pressure areas sweep the Ohio valley area, rain, maybe hail storms tonight, tomorrow, but of course weather clears and is going to be beautiful just in time to go back to work. Spring Weather is a fickle B###H. First trip out cancelled.

Good Grief, Saturday afternoon and here comes another wave of rain. then Wx man said possible thunderstorms tonight, then a possibility of a frost Tuesday evening. I need to get my good old 17 foot Champion bass boat out, mount the pod on top of the boat then come rain or shine we will be going. this is crazy. May 11 and we have not had a weekend where the weather will allow even a 1 nighter, unless you want to set inside. I can do that at home. I betcha the weather will get nice just in time to go back to work on Monday. I am going to throw a fit and get some possum heads, chicken bones, eye of newt, bat wings, and anything else I can find and throw an evil spell on the weather in Southern Indiana. With my luck it will clear up just in time to get on the road and get into a tornado.

Had our pod all tucked in to its special spot between our shed and a row of pine trees. Then we covered it with the rPod cover. Looked out on Sunday and the cover was on the ground! Looks like we will have to bungee the cover on. Here at the lake we can get pretty good wind.

Rain or shine we are heading out tomorrow for a 1 or 2 nighter. 30% to 40% chance of rain Friday and Saturday, don't care. Our son is going to tent camp with us and is pulling the Champion bass boat. I have frog togs and clothes. we are going to camp and fish period. The pod has been setting since last October. Hell, its almost June and we have had weather that is CRAP CRAP CRAP. I don't care I am heading out.

Yes, go! There have been many trips where they've called for rain or cold all weekend and we still go. I load up extra plastic to enclose our EZ-ups, and/or put up the Dome, and crank up our propane campfire (don't worry, I allow for ventillation).

It could be worse, I guess.
We had frost a few nights ago, then continued rain and cold, soggy drizzle for the whole Memorial Day weekend. I feel like our pretty Pod is nothing but a $14-thousand driveway ornament.
But, I've got a close friend (at least he was until I texted him this morning) who has a boat docked a few miles north on the Mississippi that cost him at least 10 times that much. I sent him the following friendly text this AM: "Did you get a good start on your tan this weekend, Mikey?"
His response: "Bite me..."
It's getting a little cranky here in Minnesota.
