The sound quality of my 24 in tv is inaudible. Looking for a small inexpensive sound bar for my rpod.

Welcome.  What outputs do you have on your television?  Line level and/or headphone jack?

Then I would look for something that runs from the headphone jack.  That way the volume control will also control the external speakers, and you won't need an external amplifier.  I've seen hundreds of iPod/music player speaker extensions.  Some are all one piece with the headphone plug sticking out one side, that might be perfect for a television depending on where your jack is.  My daughter has one that is the size of a golf ball (with a wire) which makes her tablet sound like a concert hall.  Don't know the name brand...

A few options:

I think any would improve the sound a bit. You could even attach them with some decent double sided tape if you wish

That last link is exactly what my daughter has.  They collapse down like an accordion.

Will those little soundbars made for computers and tablets work off the tvs earphone jack?
