We've been on the road for 9 days now (3 more to go) and have completely enjoyed our trip. It is our third time out since the big purchase in October but this has been our first BIG trip. We are traveling with our three dogs; Landry is our golden, Toni is my shepherd, and Max, the 12 yr old, 85 pound pit mix. We spent three nights at Fort Wilderness in Disney and are already planning a trip back. We enjoyed visiting a few of the hotel pool bars and found it was a great way to relax. Our stay at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine was fantastic. The sites were spacious and wooded. If you go to St Augustine take a tour with Peter Gold (Gold's Tours). He takes small groups on very informative and fun tours. Our dinner at the Columbia was one of the best I've had in a long tome. Last night we stayed at Lake Santee State Park in South Carolina. Simply beautiful! We are planing to go back in March orApril. Our big boy Max has enjoyed the trip the most. When at home he sleeps for what seems to be days on end. Each morning we check to see if he is still breathing. This trip has put a spring in his step and a gleam in his eye. He has gone from barely being able to walk to trotting through the campgrounds with his nose in the air, taking in the scents of whatever is being roasted over the open flames of the campfires. He loves spending time in the rDome and we have to drag him in at night. Being newbies we have learned so much about RVing. Many things too embarrassing to admit! Although we love the pod we are going to move up to something bigger in the late spring. Getting the pod was exactly what we needed to get us out and on the road. In the spring dh will get his dream pick up truck and then the pod will be traded in for something around 25 to 27 feet.

Sounds like you're having a blast. Thanks for the campground info. We're heading to St Augustine in February and will check out the state park. Three dogs. We find our one golden more than enough to handle. She's 11 and like your dog, RVing has put a spring in her step. Going from an R-pod to a 25 footer. That's a heck of jump in size. Sounds like a you are having a great time, I have a Catahoula,she to likes to travel,only thing she is to protective,of my wife, it hard to get her out and walk. Happy trails to you rex pHp stuart fla ------------- jrr |

We started RVing after I retired. We bought a class C and drove across the country. Then we decided to go small and bought a second hand Chalet Alpine, a fold up aFrame camper, we loved it. But then we wanted to go out west again and decided we needed something bigger, so we sold the fold up and bought a 28 foot Wilderness camper trailer. That was something to haul! But it gave us space. When we got home, we sold the big trailer and went to the RPod. Yes it is smaller and a challenge, but it has all the space we need for our planned short camping trips of no more than a week. We own two pugs and they sleep in a crate at night, so it can be pretty tight in the RPod . I can't imagine traveling with three large dogs., truly a challenge. We loved Anastasia, too. It is definitely on our list of return visits. We stuck pretty close to the campgrounds, but we have plenty of experience visiting St. Augustine, including several very fine dinners at The Columbia. The Campin' Cocker Spaniels handle a two night excursion very well and have a great time with us. We think it has something to do with "the pack" being all together. Once back to the Key, however, they are down for the count until they make up their sleep deficit- usually about two days! I heard once, on TV, that a dog traveling in a car with its nose sticking out has a smorgasbord of smells. Getting your dogs out to strange places, strange for them at least, is the best medicine there is. Spring was in the air for him! Wildflowerz, how lucky, what good weather, Its 8 pm in southern indiana and it is 29 degrees outside, the bird bath is frozen over, the pod is covered and hibernating until spring. the only good thing is a big old bowl of homemade soup and a good cherry wood fire a crackling in the fireplace. enjoy your time out, Donna and I have to wait for the spring thaw, but were planning  ------------- Dane and Donna Smith 2011 RP-172 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer 4X4 lift kit prodigy wireless brake controller |

Our goal, living in Florida, is one outing a month, and so far we have stuck to that goal. In December, however, with all the holiday activities, we have decided to give the 'Pod a one month rest. It resides in my friend's big steel 'barn', very snug, and has given me the opportunity to apply a few mod's that I will share, as soon as Christmas is past. (One of them is a family Christmas present, so you'll have to wait a few more days. Joyce probably wouldn't read about it and spoil the surprise, but I think the Campin' Cocker Spaniels are computer literate....) Anyhow, to all above the freeze line, have faith! Spring will come! The New Year has arrived, and we are off to the first camping of 2013. Next Monday, Jan. 14, we head to Manatee Springs State Park for a two night get-away. It is a very easy 40 minute tow from home, and allows us to maximize the short time we can manage from work. We love it, the pups love it, and if the weather turns on us, it's a short haul home. (I don't mind cold. I don't mind rain. I'm not crazy about cold rain....) We are very fortunate to have such a beautiful park close to home. Wildflores, we did the same thing . We purchased a R-pod and did 43 nights and 5000 miles with our dog Max for a year and had a great time, so this fall we sold the r-pod for a 1000.00 less than we paid for it. (great resale value) and purchased a Forest River Surveyor SP 240 , could have gone to the 28 but this is plenty big for us and the bathroom is huge plus it has the outside kitchen which is wonderful.
