Hi All,

My wife and I just bought a 2013 R-Pod 177 Hood River Edition. We pick it up on December 8. (We need to make some changes to the gate in the backyard first!)

Our tow vehicle is a 2002 Nissan Xterra with the supercharged engine. I've done a few mods to the engine and it pulls pretty strong so I doubt there will be an issue. We are having a new load leveler hitch installed as the one we currently have only allows a tongue weight of 200 lbs.

Our plan is to use the R-Pod for taking our young grandkids camping. We have tented with them but the R-Pod will be so much more convenient. We got the tent as well so they will always have a dry place to play on the rainy West Coast.

We will also use the Pod as a base for our ocean kayak, bike and backpacking trips. We ordered the R-Pod bike rack and will put the kayaks on the roof of the Xterra. There really is no downside to this entire purchase. Thumbs Up

Anyway, my wife has been reading this forum and it has provided us with some great info, like the Forest River $150 extended warranty which we will ask our dealer about as we declined the third party extended warranty. Thanks very much for that one! Smile So, I decided to join the conversation, learn more about R-Pods, give some advice when I can, on subjects I am knowledgeable on, and to enjoy the tales of other peoples' camping adventures.

We're looking forward to it,

Thanks everyone. We went and got the supplies to alter the backyard gate this weekend. Should be a quick job of moving 2 posts and then the existing gates. It'll give us 12 feet to back the Pod into the yard.

We are pretty exited. Big smile
