Hello fellow podders.  Many of you already know me, but for those of you who are new to the forum my name is Nuestro Pod.  my name is an tribute to my south Texas location.  I’m a 2011 RP-176 living in Harlingen, Texas.  I like it because my owners and I can camp year around.  They try to take me out every other weekend, although this year they haven’t managed to do that very well.  I am just coming off a period from late June to early mid August of not being out at all.  Anyway enough of that.

This weekend we went to IB Magee Beach Park in Port Aransas, TX.  It’s one off my favorite parks, except if the wind is blowing kind of hard, then I get sand on me.   We left Friday morning, Paul the male part for my owners took the day off, for the 3 hr trip.  I was a great ride, not much wind, which we normally have an abundance of here in So. Tx.  We arrive around noon and got set up.  Before doing any relaxing, they headed out again, leaving me by myself, to get some groceries in Aransas Pass. They like to go there because it involves a short 5-8 min ferry ride.  They have never taken me on the ferry, but I think it would be fun. When they got back, being such a beautiful day they headed for a walk on the beach toward the ship channel.  There are always loads of people fishing. (See picture).  When they came just relaxing and reading was on the agenda.  After dark there was a nice breeze and my owner sat in my R-dome with some citronella candles lit, just to keep any errant mosquitoes at bay.  I was a very laid back and comfortable evening.  Sat. they didn’t get going until late morning.  When Paul looked out the door he saw something huge coming down the ship channel.  Since it’s a ¼ - ½ mi to the channel my owner hop in my tow vehicle and drove over to the channel to get pictures.  (See pictures)  They later found out it was part of an offshore oil rig which was built in Ingleside, TX, and headed to Israel.  I could even see it from where I was.  My owner say they have seen an rig going out from the Port of Brownsville, but this was much, much larger.  They were really thrilled to see something like this.  Just as an aside, they said Corpus Christi is the 6th busiest port in the US.

Sat afternoon it got pretty warm so they left me, AGAIN, and took a drive up the coast to Goose Island State Park.  When they came back I heard them say it’s a really nice park.  We have been there but it rained the whole time.  The only downside they thought might be the mosquitoes.  Anyhow, it was another great day.

Sunday, arrived and it was soon time to leave.  My owners took a final walk on the beach, then came back and packed me up for the trip home.  We all really would have liked to stay another day but my owners had some obligations on Monday so we had to come home.  Oh well, we’ll probably go down to Isla Blanca Park in a couple of weeks.  I guess that’s it for now.

Your friend Nuestro Pod.

This is one of the largest oil platforms ever built.  It was built by Kiewit Corp in Ingleside, TX and
is on a 2+ month journey to Israel.  The picture does really do it justice.  This thing is huge.

This is a stitched together image of the whole thing.

Happy Podding
