My husband and I got our first rpod last week (and we LOVE it!!). So far we've only towed it from the dealer to our house. When I picked it up I was told it took a 2" ball, but I noticed while towing it home that it seemed to be banging around on the ball a lot. I triple-checked and it was seated securely. We had a pop-up before this that didn't bang at all while towing; it almost feels like the ball is too small. Anyone have this experience or suggestions? This usually means that the tongue weight on the trailer is to light. Did you have a lot of weight stowed in the back of the trailer? I notice that the pass through storage is on the back of the 177. That will lift up on the hitch some. I have never experienced this with the Pod because mine has all the storage is in the front but I tow a utility trailer that has a steal ramp on the back and if the trailer is empty it will bounce on the hitch a lot. ------------- Sean, 2011 Rpod RP-173,2009 Jeep Liberty Rocky Mountain Edition

Check the ball adjustment, this may need to be made smaller to fit the r pod. |

If you do have a 2" ball and the hitch is adjusted correctly look at the pin holding the shank into the reciever on your tow vehicle. The pin should fit compeely. Thanks for the great advice. It turned out to be a tongue weight issue... apparently our fresh water tank is behind our axle (I thought it was ahead of it) and we had a full tank of water. Emptied the tank, no more problems. :-) I also thought that the back of the rpod wasn't the greatest place for storage... but it's working okay now. Glad you found it. I always like a little more tongue weight for stability. I don't travel with full tanks. I keep about 10 gal of water in the tanks when I travel but that is not a problem on the 173 because my fresh tanks are up front and my grey in the back and the blank on the axle. ------------- Sean, 2011 Rpod RP-173,2009 Jeep Liberty Rocky Mountain Edition
