As mentioned in another post, we spent a night in the delivery campground of our selling dealer, but this was our first attempt to see if we learned everything they tried to teach us.

We only ventured about 40 miles from home to Manatee Springs State Park outside of Chiefland, Florida.  We had a beautiful wooded site.  The only problem was it was raining cats and dogs!  We decided that if we were to be real campers, (RV'ers, actually...), we had to plow on, and everything ended up fine.

I got the R-Dome up, by myself, in the rain, in about half an hour.  (Including the screen skirt, which was actually the hardest part.)  Actually, I had to have Joyce steady the front arch while I got the center top strut positioned.  Thank you everybody who has posted R-Dome instructions and experiences.  It really helped.

Then, the rains quit, the sun peeked through, and we had a great time.  Joyce had everything "inside" under control.  The Campin' Cocker Spaniels were introduced to "nature", including a number of very nonchalant deer that greeted our morning walk.

Breaking everything down this morning was just as challenging, and maybe more tiring.

One more one-nighter to fine tune our "kit", and we're off to Anastasia State Park for a couple of nights next month.

Sounds like it went pretty well considering the weather.

Kind of like the postal service, neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night....
