OK ...so the fresh water holding tank bows in the middle and the low point in the tank is below the level of the drain plug. I just pulled the plug and let it run until it quit. When all was said and done there was still about an inch or so of water down in the belly of the tank.
I know I could build up the side of the Pod opposite the drain plug, which would get more out ...and I may do that anyway in order to get more out of the black and grey water tank/lines. What are some of the other practices used by Pod owners? Would a small amount of water left in the tank cause damage during the winter ? This is the first year we'll be winterizeing our 177 and I'd like to get it right. Thanks, 'Slogger ------------- Livin' the Dream ...'Slogger |

I don't think that a small amount of water in the tank will hurt anything in the winter. I has plenty of room to expand when it freezes. I left the drain plug out of mine last winter and left the little that was left in the tank. As Sean said, that little bit is fine over the winter. I've put extra blocks under the far side tire at some dump stations.

You need the bow in the middle of the tank for the water pick-up line that goes to the pump, this way you always will have water at the pick-up line if you are not level. In the winter I have put a little RV antifreeze in the fresh water tank, then in the spring fill the tank a little and drain and repeat a couple of times. The RV antifreeze will not hurt you as it is food grade. After you have cleaned the tank of antifreeze then run the pump to clear the lines with the fresh water in the tank. I also use bleach in the tank when I clean it the first time and pull that through the lines then rinse the lines once more to remove the bleach. Our water is clorinated, so if it sits in the tank for a while I do not worry about adding a little bleach later. Goose ------------- Mother Goose's Caboose..2011 RP171..07 Grand Cherokee
