Came across this on Pinterest a while back.  I made some but hadn't bothered to used them until this last trip we just got back from.  It's been so hot this summer who needs a fire right?  Well temps at night got down in the 50's and we had to break out our winter clothes from under the bed so fires were great at night.

Anyways these wonderful little firestarters, made from some cotton facial cleaning disks and a little bit of recycled wax.

I've never started and easier fire ever!

You can do the same thing using the lint from a dryer.  Good topic!

Been saving our dryer lint since last season, I hardly have enough of it to make many firestarters that way.

I have read about that though, save your lint fill up and old toilet paper tube and then add some wax and it makes a nice little log.

I think my wife will be happy that she can throw all the dryer lint away for now on though.

We make them the way I did as a boyscout years ago with sawdust, egg carton, and wax. Fill the egg carton spaces with sawdust and poor on melted wax. They break apart easily and the carton becomes the "wick" material.

Interesting stuff.  If you use something like 'bounce' when drying clothes the lint is extremely flammable.

I make mine using those paper cup/dishes that restaurants use for coleslaw. I fill it with wood shavings and then pour melted candle wax over the shavings.
