Forgive me if this a repeated topic....I used search but didnt find a straight answer. The recommended pressure in my tires seems low to me. They look very low. I have a 2012 182g. What is the best pressure to fill the pod tires? Thanks in advance. X

The max tire pressure for the standard tires on the POD is 50 pounds if you are carring the max weight. If you know about what the total weight that you are at with your trailer you can use that to figure out what the right tire pressure is. For the weight of our trailer and gear I run 44 pounds in the tires. As you travel the heat of the day,weight in the trailer, speed that you travel, road surface and the air pressure in the tires all contributes to raising the pressure in the tires. I have found that traveling at 65 MPH on a sunny 97 degree day will raise the trailers tire pressure by 7 pounds. On a side note, if you have a tire that is loosing air pressure on a regular basis get it repaired before your next trip. A tire that is run on low air pressure will flex the side wall more causing more heat and could lead to a massive failure ie.blow out. The only proper repair that should be done is to have the tire broke down off of the rim and have a patch put on the inside, this way the tire can be inspected on the inside to make sure that there is not anyother problems with it at that time. This should apply to the TV and the trailer. The other tire repair is a plug that is done from the outside of the tire and should only be used as a last resort to get you down the road to a place that can break down the tire to patch it. I know I'm a bit over maximum (probably 3200 pounds, but I have to get it weighed). I put my tire pressure at 50, sometimes 48. Not sure what is right since the tire pressure does go up as you drive down the road. ------------- 2010 Rpod 172 :) 2004 Chevy Trailblazer |

The max air pressure for the FR radial OEM Pod tires is 50 psi/cold. The tires are designed to be able to withstand higher pressure as the Pod is hauled and the tires warm up. If you fill at 50 psi and check while hauling, the pressure will/should be higher than the pressure when cold...otherwise, you are losing pressure and need to have the tire checked.

Good info here. To repeat and confirm - fill to the max psi shown on the sidewall, usually 50 psi, when the tire is "cold" (hasn't been on the road for at least 2 hours). As for the TV's tires, I recommend filling slightly below the sidewall pressure. The door frame has a placard with the manufacturer's recommendation for the minimum pressure but that is mostly for ride comfort. It allows too much sidewall flex for towing, IMO.
