With the warm and humid temps do any of you keep the air on in the pod at home? I'm running mine at 83 right now.

Only if we are going to be using as a guest room. But even with just an hours notice, it will cool down pretty darn quick if needed. We do keep the fridge cooled down most of the time. ------------- |

Everything is off and the battery is disconnected when I'm not using mine (I do plug in to charge the battery before & after each trip). Humidity is less than 20% here today -- not a problem. We don't run A/C at the house unless we are working on a project inside of it.

I don't have a 30A circuit to run the A/C when at home, but am interested in the responses...
But if people do, to keep the A/C availability .... I also heard that leaving the RPod hooked up to electric all the time is not good for the battery. We leave our 171 plugged in all the time. Usually with the shower fan running constantly and the windows cracked a bit. On nice days I open the door. and close it up tight only in the fiercest storms. The batteries (2 6 volt deep cycles in series) haven't given a problem, although this weekend will be our first "dry" trip without power and we'll see how they hold up running a couple of fans and the new LED lights.
Techntrek, our fearless moderator with oodles more know how than the rest of us about these things, has said that the system in the pods will not cause problems if left continuously on power status. ------------- Chris and Walt '10 RP-171 'Free Spirit' '13 Dodge Durango Crew 5.7 L Hemi V8 |

Our temp is 92, humidity 59% almost to warm to fish. I run the air and refrigerator off of a 20 amp circuit. Have not tripped a circuit breaker yet. The air is set at 86 right now, a pleasant temp. inside. The four grand kids just came up from Kansas Monday expecting some relief. |

When not in use do you mean? Why would anyone do that? Maybe I'm missing the question.

Yeah, I have mine plugged in to electric as soon as we get home (and after I wash her down).... I had the electrician come and put a 30amp in for me (dug a ditch and all) to my driveway end. Cost about $350 bucks to have it done - well worth it. I hook up some water to the 177 and turn on the electric water heater - and I have an instant guest room for my brother and his wife - they love it. Although, I do not keep the AirCondition on during the day - just leave the windows open and the bath vent on all the time (on speed one).

Mine is plugged into shore power whenever it is parked at home. It stays plugged in with the refrigerator powered-on. While not in use, we use or pod for storage of various paper products and things that need to be kept cool. I'm still interested in the OP's reasoning behind his initial post. Why are you leaving the AC on in the R-Pod if it's not being used? I don't understand at all.
