Seems that all of the east coast folks are having roundups.  How about us western folks.  Anyone interested in a roundup in Oregon or Washington the latter part of August or September?  Please send your suggestions of dates and or locations.  Possibly Astoria or Cannon Beach in Oregon, or anywhere else.  Possibly some of the folks from BC could come down and join us.  Can't let the eastern groups have all the fun.  What say any of you.  Interested?  Would welcome any event planners also.

We are up in Sequim, WA and would be interested. However we are leaving shortly with our rPod for a trip to Alaska. Latter part of August may work.

There have been a number of inquiries from both forums.  So here is what I'm suggesting.  I looked into the Astoria area and there is a nice Good Sam campground in Gearhart, Bud's Rv Park and Campground.  They have a grocery and bait shop.  So you have a choice for your meals.  That is an easy 19 miles from Astoria.  I'm planning on the weekend of Sept.  14-16th.  They rent crab traps for those who want to try their hands at crabbing.  Remember you need a shellfish license to catch crabs.  Astoria is nearby with a world class maritime museum.  Lots to see and do on the coast.  They have full hookups for all.  Just got off the phone with the campground and they will get back to me.  I do need to have some idea of how many trailers we can expect.  Will report more when I hear.  So block out those dates.  P.S. One of the attendees is currently on a trip from Washington State to Alaska.  They will be back in time, and I'm sure they would be happy to give a fireside chat on their travels.  Should be very interesting.  Anyway that's where we are at the moment.  Send me a note if you will attend ASAP.  Safe Travels.

Just made a reservation at Circle Creek RV Park.  Had very good ratings and is a Good Sam park.  They are holding 6 spaces for us.  I have already reserved a spot for ourselves.  We are going to be there Sept. 14-16th.  The campground is in Seaside just a mile or so south of Gearhart.  After further checking in the Trailer Life Directory and online this seems a nicer venue.  There will probably be a herd of wild Elk near the park for viewing.  All that can be done at the coast is available.  Still planning to do some crabbing.  All are full hookups and our rate is $38.  If you prefer to contact directly, the phone number is 503-738-6070.  Please let me know who will be attending.  Looking forward to this with you all.  Safe Travels.

Yea.  The Eklunds have agreed to give a campfire chat on Sat. evening about their Alaska trip.  Should be fascinating.  I hope all bring cameras.  Also, since I and others are novices in posting photos to the forums, possibly someone could give a chat about how to post pics.  I will bring a laptop so that a demo will be possible.  Please make reservations if you plan to attend ASAP and let me know so I can add you to our list.  Possibly a potluck on Friday for all those who make it down early?  Looking forward to meeting you all.  Safe Travels.

We are closing in on our Sept. 13th Western Roundup in Seaside Oregon. For those who are still on the fence about attending, now would be the time to make your reservation. We have 4 others attendees and as I mentioned in prior posts, the Gekklunds have just returned from a trip to Alaska and back with their Rpod. They will be sharing all of their experiences and hopefully some photos. Come and join us at the Oregon Coast. Should be interesting and fun. Hope more can attend. The venue is at the Circle Creek RV Park 503-738-6070 in Astoria. Mention that you are with the Rpod group. Safe Travels.

We are fast approaching our first Western Roundup at Seaside Oregon starting Thursday Sept. 9th thru Sunday. We still have room for more, so if your plans have changed and you can join us, we would love to have you. We are staying at Circle Creek RV Park 503-738-6070 in Seaside. I have arranged a special rate for the Rpod group. When calling, mention that you are with the Rpod group. I have obtained some booklets on Seaside and the entire Oregon Coast of things to see and do, and I will be handing them out as you join us. Looks like we'll have a potluck on Saturday nite and we have a Rpoder who just returned from a trip to Alaska with their Rpod. Should be a fascinating discussion on their trip. See you there. Safe Travels.

We are all happily ensconsed at Circle Creek RV Park in Seaside, OR. We all arrived on Thurs. and are enjoying each others company and beautiful surroundings.  WallaWallaRon and his wife Gayla and the Geklunds,Gary and Claudia and their daughter and her two delightful children joined us.  So far we are enjoying ourselves and we already are planning doing it again next year.  Hope others will join us.  This has been a great experience.   The herd of Elk did join us and Ron took some great pictures.  Safe Travels.

We wrapped up our first annual western Roundup last night with a potluck dinner.  WallaWallron surprised us with a blueberry cobbler baked in his cast iron dutch oven.  Delish.  All who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves and pledged to keep in touch with each other and to definitely do this again next year.  The Elk did show up every nite to feed and be photographed.  The weather cooperated with mid 70's during the day and low 50's at night.  Good sleeping weather.  The Eklunds daughter came up from Truckee with her two small children and they enjoyed the campground and beaches.  A grand total of 4 dogs joined us and declared a "best campground" award.  A good time was had by all.  Hopefully next year we can have a larger gathering.  Safe Travels.

Howdy.  As of this moment the campground isn't open yet to take reservations.  I believe their phone message says they open in April for reservations.  Call them and our dates are at Circle Creek RV Park from Aug. 15-18th.  Tell them your with the Rpod group and you'll get a discount.  I believe they are all full hookups and WiFi.  Looking forward to meeting you and having a great weekend.  Safe Travels.

On anticipation of a much larger response, I have left a message at the campground to set aside 15 spaces for the August Roundup.  I have been in touch with the F.R.O.G. leader Bob Byrne and we are trying to have all Forest River products join us.  FR has suggested they will sponser a meal if enough attend.  Should be lots of fun.  Hope you all can make it.  We are possibly looking for attendees from Wash., Oregon, Calif, Idaho and anywhere else are welcome.  Again as an FYI the dates are Aug. 15th-18th at Circle Creek RV Park in Seaside Oregon.  Call them and when you make a reservation, mention that your with the Rpod group and they will give you a discount.  Looking forward to a lot of new faces and lots of fun.  We are planning a Sat. nite potluck dinner.  See you all there.  Safe Travels.

Just spoke with the FROG coordinator and he has already posted a note on the FROG forum about our Roundup in August at Seaside.  As we finalize details, FROG may host a meal for us.  Circle Creek RV Park will open April 1 for reservations.  We are scheduled for Thursday August 15th thru Sunday August 18th.  I have reserved only 15 spaces so if your interested in coming I would not hesitate to make a reservation on April 1.  Circle Creek RV Park can be reached at 503-738-6070.  See you there.  More details to follow.  Safe Travels.

With the opening of reservations for the 2nd Annual Rpod Roundup in Seaside Oregon we already have 3 reservations gone in two days.  We have 15 spaces that have been held and now that FROG has it on their website, we may have a full house.  If anyone is interested in attending, it is on Thursday Aug. 15th to Sunday August 18th at Circle Creek RV Park in Seaside Oregon.  They can be reached at 503-738-6070.  Mention that your with the Rpod group and get a discount on your stay.  The Oregon coast in August is awesome.  If we get enough participation Forest River will sponsor a meal on Friday nite.  Additionally, should we get a great Pod turnout, we may get the local Rpod factory in Oregon to possibly come and work on our RV's or give a tour of the factory.  Come one, come all and make your reservations.  Should be fun.  Safe Travels.

This was just posted on the FROG website.  If your interested I would contact Circle Creek RV Park at 503-738-6070 ASAP.

You’re invited to join other FROGs
for a relaxing weekend of “Seaside Serenity”
along the Pacific Coast in beautiful Seaside, Oregon.

Oregon FROGs are sponsoring a rally August 15-18 at beautiful Circle Creek RV Park in Seaside, OR.  We’re sending this invitation to registered FROG members in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, and British Columbia to invite you to join the fun.

Incorporated in 1899, Seaside marks the end of Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery.  Seaside has historically been one of the Oregon Coast’s most visited and popular oceanfront resorts.  Just 80 miles from Portland, Seaside is a beautiful coastal community of about 6,500 with many visitor activities from which to choose.

Circle Creek RV Park is located just 1¼ miles from the Pacific Ocean, 2 miles south of Seaside, and 6 miles north of Cannon Beach.  It features 44 full hookup sites, free cable TV, free WiFi, laundry, showers, picnic tables, fire rings, and a small store.

Cost is approximately $35 per night to cover the cost of camping.  FROG will provide dinner one night, and there will be a potluck dinner on another.  This is a chance to wind down the summer, relax, and get acquainted with other FROGs in the area.  Only a limited number of sites are available so you’ll want to act fast.

Call Circle Creek at (503) 738-6070 to make a reservation, and be sure to let them know that you’re with the FROG group.  For more information, contact FROG member Bob Cowan at (503) 699-9213, or by e-mail at mailto:bcowan@hevanet.com -

When you’ve made your reservation, please let Bob Cowan know that you’re coming so that we can get a count for meals.  Sites will go quickly, so be sure to make your reservation as soon as possible.

Please note that this is a locally organized event that is fully endorsed by FROG.  Thanks to Bob Cowan for putting together this activity.

For those Rpodders following this post, here is where we are.  We currently have 24 rv's attending with about 50 campers.  We will have a dinner Friday night hosted by Forest River and Saturday night the campground will provide us with a bonfire.  Good Sam has provided items to be given as door prizes, and I have contacted a few other dealers who might also provide "goodies."  Sorry you all can't attend, but there is always next year.  Have a couple of other surprises planned but will send those in a private email to those who are signed up.  There are some dry camping spaces left, as we have sold all of the hookups.  Call the campground if you want to attend.  You will have access to the dump station, and of course will be able to attend a dynamite catered dinner on Friday.  For those who will attend and are at other local campgrounds, send me an email and I will add you to the list for Friday dinner.  Safe Travels.

Just returned to the Pod after our second day at Circle Creek RV Park in Seaside Oregon. We are 74 campers strong with 34 total vehicles of which there are 22 Rpods. Many of the podders shared ideas and compared notes of what they wanted to do. We just finished a great BBQ dinner hosted by Forest River. A big thanks to Forest River and Bob Byrnes of the FROG group who provided much support. A number of campers have already asked where next years roundup will be. A few campers from So. Cal. were considering having a Roundup in So. Calif. next year. After dinner we sat around a campfire provided by the campground. I had been describing the merits of heading up the coast to Astoria, a mere 10 miles north,to see the town and also visit the Maritime Museum. One camper who came all the way from Florida commented that he wasn't much of a museum person but was fascinated by the museum and the light ship parked next to it at the wharf. One of our campers, Steve Thorndill composed a song that was sung at the campfire, appropriately called Seaside. Sung to the tune of Rawhide. After dinner we had a campfire provided by the campground and proceeded to share camping horror stories. Much fun. Well, off to bed. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Safe Travels.
