I recieved the risers I ordered today and on the instructions it says you might need to add a splice on the brake lines, Help I dont like messing with that kind of thing. Should I take it to the dealer or isnt it that difficult? Any help would be appreciated. ------------- sjf |

I do not think most configurations would require splicing of the brake wires, should be enough slack for repositioning if necessary by changing position of the plastic ties. I did not need to splice the wires when I installed risers on my 171.

I just put mine on my 2010 RP172 last week, and though I had to cut the zip ties that held it in place, I didn't have to splice any lines or wires. Some of the wires were a little tight while I had it up on the jack stands, but once I got weight on it, they relaxed a little.
FYI I believe the instruction say to remove the tires before installing the risers. I did it without removing the tires, but it probably would have been easier, with more work space and less crawling around if I had removed them.
The whole job took around two hours, the hardest part being finding room enough to torque the nuts down. I also noticed it came with eight bolts, eight nuts and eight washers, so I had to re-use the four washers that were in place. It wouldn't have been a big deal, except one of the washers was underguaged and had to be forcably removed from the bolt. -------------

I had to cut one zip tie on each side, no splicing necessary. A warning, I found the wires on one side of my pod had been squished between the suspension and frame (it must have bottomed out at some point) and were cut as a result. I made sure when I finished the job to reposition the wiring slightly so that couldn't happen again. It might be to most owners advantage to check the brake wiring placement on their Pods. When I installed my risers, I, too, found that the wires had been run so that eventually they would have been severed between the suspension and frame. Luckily I installed the risers soon after I bought the Pod and not too much crushing had yet occurred. But a run down a really bumpy back road would have probably destroyed them.

| Finally got my axle risers today. The dealer came through finally. It was cheaper from the dealer than from Forest River. I am going to try and put them on tonight. |

Well Just short of two hours and I have the axle risers on. The pod looks different with them on. Looks a little more like an MPG. I would not want to do this job without an impact gun though.
