Hi folks, I'm curious what people are using to lube the stabilizer jacks. The service manager at the dealership told me to use WD-40. I've always used WD-40 to free frozen nuts and bolts, not as a lube. Any thoughts? Thanks, Rob |

Rob you could use the same grease as you do to lube the wheel bearings, the only problem is that thick grease will hold sand and grit thrown up from the road, I use WD-40 or a similar thin type of penetrating oil, its not like the threads of the stabs are taking any heavy load while turning them down into position. ------------- Dane and Donna Smith 2011 RP-172 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer 4X4 lift kit prodigy wireless brake controller |

I've always used grease. WD-40 will wash away the first rain you drive through.

I have always used WD-40 for applications like the stabilizers, WD-40 will not attract dirt like grease will and helps to detour any rust that may start on the threads. I use a spray lubricant made for drive chains (bikes, etc.) it stays on the jack screws, seems to be quite water repellent. Most importantly it does not seem to attract and hold dirt. Road dirt can quickly stick in the screw threads if you use a regular grease. WD-40 works if you spray the screws just before you crank down the jacks...but I have never had it last for more than a couple of days, if that.
