Me, again.  Seems that things are not going well for my one year old 171.  The lp detector is bad and has to be replaced.  Does anyone know about a better, less sensitive model that does not go off after a sneeze?

Are you sure the detector is bad?  The pod is a very tight airspace and we've found sprays - and fumes from the toilet if its valve is left open too long - will set it off.  If you do need a new one I would just search online for a new one.

Mist will set it off.  I had some sputter and mist push out of my sink before a straight flow of water would occur and that mist set off the propane detector and it would not shut off until I opened the bathroom vent fan and circulated air throughout the cabin.  Yes, the detector scared me too.  I thought I had a leak somewhere, then put two and two together and figured out that it was the mist.

The only time mine went off was with a low battery.  When I charged it up the detector no longer went off.

I have ordered a more substantial detector that is less sensative to hair spray, mist, etc.  Sure hope it's worth the price.  While I am at it, how do you get those small plastic caps that the wires connect to off when I install new detector?

Battery O.K.
I was once told that a fluctuation in power while camping will set it off.  Mine definitely is bad.....no red light, etc.

Sorry, I've never removed mine so I can't help you with the tabs.
