Donna and I have a RP-172, it has 2 bunks in front and the dinette folds down to a short queen. I know in time the cushions will compress, sag etc, before that happens I would like to find something to put on top to (save the cushions and get better support) We have heard that Latex is cooler and holds up. Restonic has a factory in New Albany Indiana which is 15 minutes from our house, we were told by a local company that sells beds/bedding etc they will custom cut what you want, I plan to contact them at the first of the week. I would like something I can roll up, fold etc to store on the top bunk while we are using the dinette, we use it for breakfast or coffee time whatever, but like the short queen for sleeping, any one crossed this bridge yet and have any suggestions ? I have also seen on t.v. or somewhere a folding slat system that I think is vinyl that goes under couch cushions etc, that placed between the pod cushions and then memory foam or 3 inch latex I think would be great, any Idea's ?

We purchased a 3" memory foam matteres topper for our dinnette/bed. It works great and we keep it in the storage compartment under the left side seat. We had to cut the queen size topper down by making a pattern from cardboard. It is a real challenge to get a fitted sheet on it the first time . We pull the covers up in the morning and the fold it three times like you would a letter, then a three fold the opposite direction. You have to push the air out of it once you get in the storage area but it works great and makes a significant difference on getting a good night sleep. We purchased ours on line but I am told you can get them at Wal-Mart. Good luck.

There is a trade-off on your choice of mattress materials.  Latex is supposedly cooler than memory-foam but because it is 'open-cell', it does absorb moisture more easily. In high humidity, the material may feel somewhat damp. The cost is very moderate. On the other hand, memory- foam tends to feel warmer because it tends to be more 'close-cell'.  Some people, who like their bed to carry away their body heat, find that it becomes too-warm.  This may be an advantage if you camp in cooler climates and don't want to run your heater as often.  Closed-cell is quite expensive compared to open-cell latex.
