Hey, spring is coming, and it's time to clean up the Pod.  I live by the sea and  have a few rusting lug nuts. Does anyone know the size and thread size I will need to buy? I think I'll try stainless steel ones if available for the Pod.

13/16 on the outside, same as Ford, I think the rim is a Ford pattern, just take one lug nut off and go to , fill in the blank. Autozone, Oreilly, Sears. The stainless steel is a good idea, I saw some rust on one of my lugs today during recheck torque, it's only 6 months old.

Haven't taken delivery or ours yet, however replacing the lug nuts with SS ones makes sense.  How many per wheel?  Someone had suggested having the wheels balanced and the air stems replaced with SS also.  Seems like thats the time to replace the original ones.  Thanks in advance for your help.  Good Camping.

When I took delivery of my Pod, I took both wheels over to a tire shop and had them both dynamically balanced.  Shop said that they definitely needed balancing.  So I recommend having your wheels checked.  It may save you having to replace the tires too soon.

I have that on my list of things to do upon delivery.  I checked on the web and lug nuts come in various sizes even based on an outside size of 13/16ths.  Trying the factory for more info.

Sorry that I did not think of this earlier, I just went out and pulled up the cover to get into the sidebox where I have a package of locking lug nuts. The size is " 1/2-20, tapered seat ".  1/2 inch stud with a standard thread count of 20 threads per inch and a tapered seat.  Make sure that you do not pick up a mm size for foreign cars.
Why I have locking lug nuts (one on each wheel) is another story.
I would not think that there would be any difference in size between the Dexter or Lippert axles. I do have a Dexter.    Goose

Hey Goose, thanks for the lug specs. The thread size is what I needed to make a raid on Amazon for the stainless steel ones.

I'd like to add     ...that an "impact" socket is the best way to go. It is a 12 point socket and makes a more secure lock on the lug nut.

OK.  I called FR and they confirmed that on my HRE edition I would be getting a Lippert axle.  However FR was concerned that replacing the lug nuts might invalidate the warranty from Lippert.  Next call was to Lippert and they were not concerned at all about changing lug nuts.  Then called Gorilla Lug Nuts in L.A. and they recommended a 61188 part number. They are SS and have a lifetime warranty. Their retail price is about 3.58 per nut.  Went to Amazon and they don't seem to have the 61188.  Then Googled the number and was able to purchase them from Brandsport.com for $2.53 each.    There, you have it.  Hope that helps.

Thanks again, Goose and Camper Bob, my stainless steel Gorilla Lugs are mounted and lookin' good. They're advertized as the last lugs you'll have to buy--We'll see. Hope so! The size, #61188, is a good fit. The Gorilla #61187 are the same sized lugs in a 4 pack. I was lucky enough to get some Amazon (used/returned but perfect) ones for $3.00 each pack-regular $13.82 each pack.
