I noticed a small leak in toilet connection when winterizing Ouch.  The screw cap on the rear water inlet to  the top of the toilet is just about unreachable - I was hoping to replace a grommet under the cap?   Has anyone taken off their toilet (appears to be just two side bolts)? Is this easy to do ... or a nightmare in waiting?   I'd like to access the back with a few more inches of access.  Any suggestions?  Should I just go to the dealer?

I removed the toilet once, Its not difficult. Ours is a 2009 171, I think the toilets are the same. I removed ours looking to see if the toilet could be moved back closer to the wall. I wanted a little more standing room taking a shower. Would of needed to change the plumbing underneath so I left it alone.

When I take the toilet seat nuts off, will the bolts stay? I hope they don't drop drop into the frame ? Are they locked in?

They will not drop into the frame. I think they plan on that down the road the toilet may be replaced. They havn't made it difficult thankfully.

I took toilet off by taking off toilet nuts and then removing water line.  My leak was from a bad connection on water valve above water line connection link (see the white threads on the bottom left). It looks like someone tried to repair the connection with epoxy and let epoxy drip in threads. The new water valve has a new design, single molded piece (see black water line connection on right). It was shipped from toilet manufacturer and cost < $30 including S&H.

Here's a link to toilet manufacturer - note links to manuals ...
