Anyone else out there with a Hood River Edition notice that there's a pretty good drop frommthat step to the ground? Between the axle risers and the larger tires I'm giving serious thought to going with a 2 step design.

Guess it's all in your perspective...we previously had a class C motorhome, and it was a much bigger step down than the Pod, which doesn't seem too large of a step to us anymore. You can always get one of those small folding step stools to put under the Pod's step to ease the distance a bit.

Camping World sells a nice step/platform that we have, but it's a bit pricey. It's adjustable and very sturdy.

I found the step down/up to be more proportional once I installed the risers. Before the first step down to the pod's step was bigger than the next step down to the ground. I bought the aluminum step from Camping World, and I kind of kicked myself because it was very pricey. But now that I have it, I absolutely love it. I hear ya. I think I paid $90 or something like that for mine. Was pissed up until I started using it. It was worth every penny.

I got mine on sale, and it's on sale now at Camping World for $69.99. Someone told me the Army National Guard bought a bunch of these. Because it is aluminum the step is lightweight yet it will bear up to 1000 pounds.  These steps are larger than they look in the photos. I know it's hard to believe a step can be worth that price, and I certainly doubted it myself - but I'm a believer now. | MJ: I have like new 14" tires on my 2011 HRE, would be happy to swap wheels with you for your 15 inchers if you are interested, I don't have a problem with the height of the step but would like a bit more ground clearance to assist me in pulling into my angled driveway. |

Plus ...I just went out a week ago and got new wheel covers for winter - a because our old camper had 15" wheels so they didn't fit on the Pod. When I first parked the Pod in the yard next to the driveway it wasn't level side to side. The right (curb)side was in a rut andnthat exaggerated the distance between the Pod step and the ground. A week or so ago I relocated the Pod somthe it was level and we gained about 2+ inches of ground beneath the step - - made all the difference in the world.
