Shocked  We love Tybee Island and last time we stayed we did not have our RPod.  Just wondering if anyone has been to the campground there. I know its just 3 blocks off the beach.  I would like to know if the campground is family oriented or loud.  We drove by it and it looks small, but of course you would be there more for the beach.  If you like dolphins, you can kayak for 1/2 day for $40 and they swim all around you, it was incredible!!  The north end of the beach is very peaceful.

It's on the coast of Georgia, just south of Savannah.

Tybee Island is on our bucket list. I'd love to camp there and revisit Savannah.

Tybee Island campsites are very close together. If you want to go
to the beach Hunting Island State Park is 17 miles from Beaufort Sc. Great Campground right on the beach.

We stayed at Tybee Island Campground this past April. It is where we saw our first RPod. It is true that the sites are close together, but the campground is clean, the camp store is nice and you can bike or walk down to the beach. We had a wonderful time there. We biked into town often, took in an art show and went to the pier. We preferred the quiet end of the island instead of the store and pier area, but each to his own.  Tybee Island has just started a shuttle into Savannah, it cost very little, something like three dollars. Well worth it,,,no worry about parking. It drops you off at the visitor center where you can sign up for a trolley tour. We did the Old Town Trolley, very educational and you can get off and on whenever you want. Savannah is an amazing place, filled with history. If you haven't been, it is worth the trip!

Donna and I used to vacation with the kids on John Fripp Island years ago, we drove into Hunting island camping area, gosh that was 15 years ago, it is a beautiful area, Now that we have a pod and are nearing retirement we may be able to go back to the area, in July you can see loggerhead turtles come up on the beach at fripp and lay eggs. our first year on fripp was 1984 I think, its only 2.5 miles long and about 3/4 of a mile wide, it is a game preserve and its good for watching wild life, the beach was so crowded in the morning that other people were about 50 yards from us. Savannah is great, take the trolley ride, the food is great, I wonder if the "Shrimp Shack" is still open I think it is on 37 between Fripp and Beaufort, best Fried Flounder I ever had.
