Tried lighting our furnace for the first time this past trip.

The blower kicks on and goes through the cycle of trying to light 3 times but never ignites.  Have tried multiple times and nothing.

We have bug covers over our outside vents so there aren't any obstructions that can be seen.  To be sure I took the cover off and looked down the pipe and blew some compressed air through it to be certain nothing was clogged.

Any suggestions on things to try?  I have a week before my dealer can look at it so I'm up for trying a few fixit things myself in the meantime.

All other propane devices light easily and on the first cycle.  Water heater or fridge have never had a problem.

Someone mentioned lighting the stove and the water heater both and then trying to light the furnace, I'll try that tonight but other suggestions are welcome and needed.

The first time I tried to use mine, it wouldn't light and it cut off after a minute or two. So, I looked at the manual to see if there were some special lighting instructions. There are. IIRC, I had to turn the thermostat all the way down, then switch the unit to heat and let it sit a minute or two before moving the thermostat up.

You may already know this and have a different problem. Worth throwing out there, though.

I think we did see something like that in the manual, but it didn't seem to make much sense.  But if you had some luck with this method I'll try that also!

Tonight we lit the water heater and both stove burners and let them burn a minute, then switched the furnace on and it lit on the 2nd cycle and warmed right up.

Good to go!  Thanks all.
